THE MASTERPLAN (Creation)

Christmas is coming and there's no 1998 Oasis album: time to wheel out the B-sides compilation! Hang on, though - Oasis B-sides were rarely just cast-offs - the footloose "Underneath The Sky", for example, is as good as all but the best of their A-sides. The Oasis masterplan, such as it is, has always been meat-and-potatoes rock, with plenty of jackdaw pilfering, but the 14 tracks here blaze and jangle along in such muscular wide-screen style it doesn't much matter. Plus they've made it cheap. Too bad about "IAm The Walrus", though.
