OASIS Faq
MELODY MAKER

- tabloid tales
- Trouble in the Oasis camp? Well there is if the newspapers are to be believed - cos Noel Gallagher and the lads' every move was splattered all over the press last week, following their court battle with ex-drummer Tony McCarroll.
- The Mirror claimed that Noel had sacked all the crew and technical staff for being "useless" during a furious row at the south London studios where the band are rehearsing their fourth album. The paper then went on to claim that, "in a rare moment of calm, they were then asked to stay on".
- But even more surprising was the news that guitarist Bonehead was allegedly "let go after getting on Noel's nerves". Anyway, The Mirror then went on to claim that the band have brought in some new guitar amps so Noel can find "the classic sound he's after" for the new album. But the newspaper reported that one source had told them that "it makes everything Oasis play sound like f*****g heavy metal".
- Meanwhile, the aforementioned ex-drummer popped up in The Observer newspaper claiming that the infamous Paris punch-up which allegedly led to his sacking was fabricated to make the band "look cool". He also claimed that Noel tried to buy some cocaine while the band were touring in New York - but when he turned up to collect it, he was allegedly given...flour.
- When The Maker asked for a comment from the "fantastically out-of-touch press office" (The Mirror's words, not ours), a spokeswoman for the band said: "It's completely untrue, all of it. There's been no sackings, no fall-outs, no disagreements. The band are just getting on with making the new album. As for the Tony McCarroll remarks, Creation won't be making any comment on this at all. This episode of Oasis is over."
