- tabloid tales
- According to the Sunday Mirror, "loud-mouthed rock'n'rollers" Oasis are "facing a High Court battle". They are allegedly being sued by "former friend" Paul Ashbee, who apparently claims that "without him, the group would never have existed". The paper claimed that a writ will soon be issued in the High Court.
- Ashbee supposedly introduced Liam Gallagher to Bonehead and "eventually persuaded" the 18-year old to join the band. He also claims to have worked as a roadie and promoter until 1995. He alleges that he had a verbal contract with the band that said they "would see him right financially if they ever made it big" and no money has ever materialised. A so-called "pal" apparently said: "I don't think he's that bothered about the money. He just wants people to recognise that without him there'd probably never have been Oasis."
- The Maker spoke to Oasis' record company spokesman who is not aware of any writ. He claimed: "The guy was never a roadie or promoter and was never promised any job by the band."
- Noel surprised his missus Meg Mathews by taking her on holiday to Egypt. The Mirror snapped the couple in Giza, near Cairo, where they were supposedly staying in the "plush £300-a-night Oberoi Hotel". Kind-hearted Noel wanted to whisk Meg away "before she became too heavily pregnant". A "friend" said: "They wanted time alone to get used to the idesa of having a baby and to prepare for the birth."
- Liam and Patsy have been making preparations too, and according to The Mirror have decided names for their unborn child. The "trendy couple" have apparently plumped for something "a little more unusual". If it's a boy, it'll be named Lennon, after The Beatle member John,. But if it's a girl, they have decided on Grace, after movie star Grace Kelly. An "insider" said: "They worked it out so that Liam could choose a boy's name snd Patsy the girl's. They are leaving the rest to fate." Oasis' spokesman declined to comment on the story.
