- "Sold - December's Rock Memorabilia"
- by Martin O'Gorman
- As we reported in the December issue, another high-profile lot was the notebook belonging to Noel Gallagher of Oasis, that included handwritten drafts of the Manc superstars' top hits. Early versions of "Whatever", "Shakermaker", "All Around The World" and an alternate set of lyrics to "Stand By Me" are featured, along with lyrics for unreleased songs such as "Chill", "Song In A Suitcase", "In Blue", "Lost Again" and "I Am Always Right". The unremarkable-looking ring-bound jotter is adorned with two printed stickers of Oasis artwork, designed by a friend of the band, Tony French, which was also used on their 1993 demo tapes. Gallagher certainly had his group's career plan worked out in advance, with the notebook containing suggested track listings for their first two albums and "Singles 1-3". The lot was snapped up by former UFO Music/Vinyl Experience man Mark Heyward, who wanted this piece of Gallagher history for his private collection, and was prepared to pay £4,140 for the honour.
