AGNOSTIC FRONT :
ANOTHER VOICE

For all you 12 year olds that think Hardcore is something new, and involves the prominent display of baseball caps, let me re-educate your sorry ass! True Hardcore has been around for a long, long time. At the forefront of the NY Hardcore scene for almost a quarter of a century (that's right, they started in '82) has been the legendary Agnostic Front. As they boldly state in the opening track "Still Here", NYCH is not something they saw on TV, or read about, for them, it is a way of life that evolved from the streets. At the heart of the band, and there from the beginning has always been Roger Miret (vocals) and Vinnie Stigma (guitar). Others have come and gone, but these guys are down for life. With them this time around is; Matt Henderson (guitar) who was with the band in the early 90s, and also played in Madball, Mike Gallo (bass) who was on the last two discs as well, and new comer Steve Gallo (drums). There are also a couple of guest appearances worthy of mention; we have Hatebreed's Jamey Jasta performing on the song "Peace" (he's also in the included PC video for the track). Then we have some guest vocals from Scott Vogel (Terror) and Karl Buechner (Earth Crisis). This time out, thing seem more brutal than they've been for a while, yet at the same time, just as catchy. Every song on "Another Voice" lashes out at the injustices the band seem around them, and reaffirms their stance, and their belief in the NYHC scene in general. Man, the first time I spun this I was in my car, and it was all I could do to not start chanting back the sing along choruses, and pumping my fist it solidarity. If like me, you came to the world of Hardcore via the cross-over bands of the late 80s and early 90s such as Biohazard, Cro-Mags, and Sick Of It All, or even worse, it you call yourself Hardcore because you listen to some 3rd generation Hatebreed clone, then trust me, you owe it to yourself to seek out the source, and "Another Voice" is a good place to start your journey. The disc is out in Europe now, but if you wait for the stateside January '05 release, it will apparently contain two bonus video tracks, and be available in a limited edition collectable case.
