Wow, just... wow! This caught me way off guard. But, lets start at the beginning shall we? The Agony Scene is a new Metal band out of Tulsa Oklahoma, and this is their fantastic debut disc. The band consists of : Michael Williams - vocals, Johnny Lloyd - guitar, Chris Emmons - guitar, Matthew Shannon - bass, and Brent Masters - drums. The band's Bio claims they have merged mid-era Pantera with the like of In Flames, The Haunted, and even Cradle Of Filth. Well, there is something to that, but what you need to know, is that this is pure, no-holds Thrash-Metal, in the best sense of the term. Michael has obviously graduated with honors from the "Jeff Walker (Carcass) school of singing". The rest of the band is ultra tight, and lashes out with precision, and a finely channeled rage. Not much point in going on and on, great songs, great musicianship, great sound. This is one of the best straight up Thrash CDs I've heard in a long time. This will tear you a new one. Think of the best stuff that the Trash scene had to offer in 1990, and mix it with the best Thrash you can find coming out of Europe in 2003, and voila, you have The Agony Scene.
