CUTS FROM THE CRAP

"Cuts From The Crap", is of course, a poke at the latest Misfits CD entitled "Cuts From The Crypt". So right away, we get a hint at Aixelsyd's sense of humour, and if you're too stupid to have figured it out yet, Aixelsyd is Dyslexia spelled backwards… get it? And the humour continues with the song titles, such as; "Dave Ugly's Girlfriend", "Urine Trouble", and "I Suck". I would list them all, but there are 35 tracks on this disc!!! Now, many are intros and segues, but damn, that's a lot of songs! So anyway, I think you can see, that this self-described, sloppy pop punk band, does not take them selves too seriously. This self released CD is a collection of a bunch of the band's tunes from various points over the last couple years, so style and quality varies throughout the disc. At times they sound like many of the radio-friendly punk bands currently playing the college campuses, at other times they sound like the Misfits (old and new), and there are even a few moments where I'm reminded of good old Davey Havok & AFI. Now, none of these songs can really be called classics of the genre, but they are loads of fun, and delivered with a great type of enthusiasm, that only a young group of punks could have. Aixelsyd won't blow your mind, but if you're looking for something fun, honest, and unpretentious, then you need to check these guys out. If they could get some professional production going on, they could certainly rise above their current "cool local band" status. For more info, go to their jam-packed web page.
