ALLELE :
POINT OF ORIGIN

This one is pretty fuckin' weak. It's more modern Hard-Rock / Nu-Metal aimed at FM radio play. As if we're supposed to care, we're informed that Allele is made up of ex members of Otep, and Cold, like that's a selling point or something. You know the drill here, it's heavy, but not overly heavy. Everything is kept in check as to not negate their chance at radio play. We have the prerequisite clean vocals, that then morph into semi angry/gruff screaming at the chorus, to give them that aura of being semi-edgy. I'd say this type of stuff is totally played out, but just listen to the radio, and you can see that the masses of sheep out there still have a taste for this. As for me, during the first act of "Point Of Origin" I was bored, that soon changed to annoyed, and by the third act this thing was just making me angry. I guess if you dig all the second tier acts that make up the bulk of Ozzfest, and think that bands like Korn and Nonpoint still "got game", then you might find something to love here, otherwise avoid. RATING = 4 Hard Rock / Nu-Metal (Released 2005)
