ALPHABET BOMBERS :
YESTERDAY'S FUTURE, TODAY

This is the Bombers' second full-length effort following on the heels of 2003's "Wreckless". We have twenty-one, yes that's right, 21 ass-kicken' tracks clocking in at just over 53 minutes in total. The songs are obviously short, ranging from a mere 1:58 to a whopping monumental epic of 3:36 in length. This fierce D.C. area group is made up of: Alex - guitar, Curt - upright bass, Rich - vocals, and Hollywood - drums. Unfortunately, this promo disc is so fresh, I don't even know the names of the songs, and the band has nothing posted on their web site yet... no cover, no titles, nothin'. So I can't give you too much other info. The band's sound is a sort of laid-back, gravelly kind of Psychobilly, sprinkled with small doses of Surf, The Reverend Horton Heat, Garage rock, and Link Wray-isims. They're not as Psycho as say Tiger Army, or the Nekromantix, but they're too edgy and gruff to be called just Rockabilly. The songs are fun, catchy, and at times kind of creepy sounding (which in my book is always a good thing). The band's image is that of a group of demented 50s looking greasers. They're the kind of punks that would have served up the Fonz's ass on a plate if he really existed. This is straight ahead Psychobilly, that is I think would also be oddly accessible to the average Rock fan. Good stuff. For more info, you can find the band at alphabetbombers.com.
RATING = 7 Psychobilly (Released 2004)
