ANOMY :
DISQUIETUDE

The band sent me rough mix of this disc a long time a go, it was OK, but nothin' to get worked up about. However, after a spit and a polish, and a little tweaking, we have an impressive full-length debut on our hands. Right off the bat, this disc brought back memories of the glory days of Thrash, and bands like early Megadeth and Coroner... now I haven't listened to a Coroner CD in ages, so I'm not even sure that's an on-target reference, but that's what came to mind. I would have to say the band lands in the Thrash genre, but they pace their songs a little different compared to their contemporaries. Anomy take it a little slower, happy to gallop along at in a mid tempo range. This is actually very effective, and lets the band spew attitude, right, left and center. One of the things I also noticed was the sound quality, much better than so many "big-name" recordings, and they let the drums come and sit up front, instead of being buried in the background. It is also obvious that vocalist Brent graduated with honors, and at the top of his class in "Dave Mustaine's School of Heavy Metal Screaming". At times the two are almost indistinguishable. Disquietude is a worthy contender for the Thrash throne, now that Megadeth is no more, and Metallica is a joke. To check 'em out on line, go to anomy.org.
