APHASIA :
ARCANE IN THALASSA

Bands from Quebec Canada always had a unique take on Thrash Metal in the late 80s & Death Metal in the early 90s, so it comes as no surprise, that now, when the first Black-Metal bands are emerging from Quebec, that they to, would bring a new perspective to this genera. Aphasia uses two male vocalists, one to cover the high pitched, ear-splitting side of things, and the other to cover the more deathly growls, that are needed from time to time. They also possess a level of musician ship that is far beyond the usual Black-Metal standards. There are slower parts on this CD that most extreme bands would be terrified to attempt, let alone release to the public. The mellower interludes that pop up every now and then throughout the disc, are so intricate and progressive, that they could have been lifted from the latest Dream Theater CD. This in turn, makes the double bass, blast-beat attack that follows, seem much more heavy. Very kool stuff, for more info, check out the bands web page.
