DEEP INSIDE OF YOU

Beyond Darkness is the melodic goth-metal phoenix, that has risen from the ashes of two other bands, "Dark Ritual", which was a death/thrash influenced outfit, and "Berenice", a more doom-metal themed band. The band is from Japan, but unless you read the names, you would never know it. I would have placed these guys somewhere in Scandinavia. The music, and the vocal delivery of Shoji Hoshiyama, are both very reminiscent of gothic doomsters, "Sentenced". This short 3 song demo CD, while not perfect, shows a lot of potential. The musicianship (Kenji Aoyagi - Guitar, Hikaru - Bass, Takuo Itoh - Drums) is top notch, so is the production, the only thing needed is that little something extra during the choruses, to make them stick to you brain. That, and a few more songs like the lead off track, "Ebbing Tide", and this band could put together a serious contender of a CD.
