BLACK DAWN :
BLOOD FOR SATAN

If the current big names in black-metal (Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, etc.) are too commercial for ya, but on the other hand, you think that most bands, that claim to be "true" black-metal, sound like they used drunken monkeys to recorded their CDs, then this might be what you've been waiting for. This CD boasts some superior sound, and some damn creepy-ass tunes. Black Dawn, are the real deal. No keyboards, no female vocals, no Bull Shit. This Finnish band of evildoers has their dark act together. They make some effective and dramatic use of samples. (but the "Evil Dead" clip, in the title track, was done better, years ago by Canada's "Sacrifice") When it comes to the vocals, you can almost feel the hate coming from Hoath Wrath, as he spews his unholy tales throughout these 10 tracks. Also worth a mention is the drumming of Cauldron, which is almost on the level of Dave Lombardo. For some, who have grown with the scene over the last few years, this might sound a little dated, but for the purist, it's just what the doctor ordered! ("All the best bands are affiliated with Satan" - Bart Simpson)
RATING = 7 Black-Metal (Released 2001)
