BLACK SYMPHONY :
TEARS OF BLOOD

This came as a welcome surprise. This is Black Symphony's second full length CD, first with new vocalist Ric Plamondon and drummer Pete Holmes (Black 'n' Blue, Ted Nugent). Musical styles range widely on this disc, but try to imagine classic metal like Priest and Maiden, then, add the hard edge of thrash, and the diversity and complex song structures found in most Progressive Metal bands. Ric's vocals are hard, but clean, perfect for this musical mix. A couple high lights are the EZO sounding "Over And Over", and the truly majestic, "Tears Of Blood Part II". Tears Of Blood, is a great addition for anyone that's into the classic sound, but wants something new (I mean, there are only so many Maiden CDs out there). This is also available with a 4-song bonus disc. The bonus tunes are; Blue Eyes (Who), Smoke On The Water (Deep Purple), Zero The Hero (Sabbath), and Deliverance (Queensryche). I think the choice of covers here sums up the band better than and BS I could write. Check 'em out.
RATING = 8 Power Metal (Released 2001)
