BLESSING THE HOGS :
THE TWELVE GAUGE SOLUTION

Some of you are undoubtedly asking yourselves "who the hell are these guys, and why should I care"? Well, here's the low-down. The band is fronted by none other than famed (and overly prolific) producer Billy Anderson! Yes, the same Billy Anderson that has worked with bands such as; Fantomas, Melvins, Sick Of It All, Eyehategod, High On Fire, Neurosis, and many others way too numerous to mention. As a band, they've been kicking around since '99, and this is the follow up to their fairly well received debut, 2002's "The Poisoning". So, what's it sound like you ask? Well, it's pretty freakin' intense to tell you the truth. There's lot's of angry screaming, edgy riffs, and buckets of down-tuned goodness. Genres tend to blend and overlap each other as the band proudly swipes and plunders stuff from the worlds of Thrash, Sludge, Death, Metalcore, and the NWOAHM. Basically, all you need to know is that it's heavy as hell, and will have your parents shouting at you to turn your music down within seconds of hitting play. The only drawback I can find to this near hour-long assault of sonic jack-hammering, is that there tends to be a sameness running throughout the disc that makes it a bit hard to distinguish individual songs until you've played it numerous times. However, if you're in need of an ass-kicking, or wanna give your neck muscles a work out, this'll fit the bill nicely. Before I go, there are a couple interesting tidbits of info to share. Sean Ingram of Coalesce did vox on two cover tunes, Quicksand's "Fazer" and the Melvins' "Hogleg". Plus, included on the disc for your PC pleasure, is a cool video for the song "Let's Play Doctor... Kavorkian", and a silly time-wasting video game, which is a Pac-Man rip-off called "Metal Man". Need more info? Then surf your ass on over to blessingthehogs.com.
