BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION :
HERE COME THE BRIDES

Wow, what a big fat disappointment this turned out to be. For those that didn't follow the constant news regarding the formation of this band, here is a brief overview. It all started in '02 when Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns) and Nikki Sixx (Motely Crue / 58) joined forces with drummer Kris Kohls (Adema / Cradle Of Thorns / Christian Death), Adam Hamilton, and an unknown vocalist named London LeGrand. The band was to be called "Cockstar", but apparently, the lads lacked the balls to stick with such a crude, non-politically correct moniker. Hamilton soon bailed, and was replaced by rhythm guitarist John Corabi, (Motley Crue / Union). But then by early 2003, Corabi and Kohls also decided to bail on the project. Eventually, session drummer Scott Coogan stepped in to fill the drum spot, so we finally ended up with Tracii on guitar, Nikki on bass, London on vox, and Scott on the drums. Because of the involvement of Nikki, this band has had a ton of press, and the expectations in the rock/metal community were high, for this, their debut effort. I think fans worldwide were expecting, and hoping for, a cross between Motley Crue's "Too Fast For Love" and L.A. Guns "Cocked & Loaded". We wanted a raw, sleazy, street-wise record, just brimming with attitude. We wanted a throwback to the days of yore. What we got, is a disc with a couple decent rockers, a catchy chorus or two, and a shit-load of FM radio-friendly filler. The lead off track, and first single, "Shut The F**k Up", along with track two, "I Don't Care", are both high-octane, attitude-laden, brainless rockers. In other words, good party music. If the CD marched on like this, I would have no problem, it wouldn't be a classic by any means, but it would be fun. However, it's all down hill from this point on. Sure, "2x Dead" has a good chorus, but the rest is pure, cookie cutter quality garbage, that any other band could have shit out of their ass on a moments notice. There's nothing to make this stand out from the hundreds of Glam-Metal CDs that hit the world's delete bins in the early 90s. Except for STFU, there's no edginess, no rebelliousness, just safe, boring, homogenized rock and roll, strictly made to try and capture a small piece of the ever shrinking pie, from the few radio stations that still play rock based music. By the time this disc ends, you'll wonder why anyone ever cared at all. It's funny, I've now heard how the band says that this is not really a "proper" album, this was a glorified demo, but they released it because the fans "demanded it". Give me a f**king break. This is not the Glam/Sleaze Metal revival you were hoping for, this is just another nail in the coffin of a long dead genre. Please, if you can't revive it, just let it rest in peace.
RATING = 4.5 Glam-Metal (Released 2004)
