THE CADAVERS :
THE CADAVERS / SUICIDE FANTASY

Here we have 2 releases from the band of creepy punksters known as The Cadavers, 2000's self titled effort, and the 2002 follow up, Suicide Fantasy. Starting with the earlier disc, the band's look is pure Goth (face paint, and black clothing as far as the eye can see), but the sound is pure Punk. We have Scarecrow on guitar, Dru on vocals, Corpse on bass, and Carcas on drums. This early effort has great tunes, lots of edge, and fun old fashion, Misfits-inspired, sing along passages. When it comes to disc two, we have a bit of a line up change. Carcas is out, and in comes Craig (what kind of boring-ass name is that?), and Dementia, a female vocalist that trades off lead vocals with Dru's demented shrieks throughout the disc. The result is a much more Goth-Punk sound compared to before, it just sounds creepier. If you mashed the old Danzig era Misfits with a 90s goth band like Two Witches, and threw in some female vocals here and there, you would come close to the latest Cadaver sound. Both discs are worth getting for fans of the Misfits, the Damned, "Death-Rock", "Goth-Punk", "Horror-Punk", and any other related sub genre. For more info, try www.thecadavers.net
RATING = 7, 7.5 Goth-Punk (Released 2000 / 2002)
