It's kind of hard to judge a band only on a 3-song mini CD, but what the hell, I'll do it anyway. Censure began in Quebec city in 1998, they went through many line up changes, played some gigs, and broke up in October of '99. They then reformed in March of 2001 with an altered line up, and then presto in 2002 we have this little mini CD to entertain us. First thing to note about this brutal Death-Metal outfit is that they sing in French! (well, there are four English words in the first song) Now, with the nature of Death-metal vocals being what it is, you're really not gonna notice the difference. However, I feel the band is really limiting themselves, as everyone knows, if you wanna crack the international market, you gotta put your national pride, and politics aside, and go with English. So anyway, onto the 3 songs up for inspection... let's see, Fuckin' heavy? Check. Intense? Check. Repetitive? Nope. Interesting? Yes. Combine that with the occasional Grind-Core and old school Thrash-Metal riffs, and you have a cool little disc. The only thing I think that negatively affects this CD, is a sense of immaturity in the song writing. The ingredients are all there, but I think it will take another year of the band being together before we see what they're truly capable of. In the mean time however, if you just wanna scare the hell out of your parents, or your wife, this should do nicely. For more info on these Death Dealers, check out their web page.
