CLEPSYDRA :
ALONE

Clepsydra play well polished Progressive Rock. This CD is probably a little too mellow for most of my readers, but, if you dig Dream Theater's slower stuff, then you can probable get into this. The band started out in 1989 as "Delta Prophecy", they then quickly changed the name, and released their first CD, "Hologram", in '91. Many ups and downs followed, as well as a few more releases, and now after a few shaky years (including the departure of their bass player/manager) the band is back with "Alone". The songs are passionate, and filled with a very sombre quality, and vocalist Aluisio Maggini has a great voice. The biggest drawback however, is that every song is very similar, using the same mid-paced tempo. They never speed things up, or slow right down, which tends to get a bit monotonous by the 12th or 13th track. For more info on this professional, yet mellow outfit, visit their web page.
RATING = 6 Progressive-Rock (Released 2001)
