VIOLATED

Construcdead hail from Stockholm Sweden. The group of rogue's is made up of: Joakim Harju (ex-Face Down) - bass, Christian Ericson - guitar, Peter Tuthill - vocals, Rickard Dahlberg - guitar, and Erik Thyselius (Terror 2000) - drums. This is the band's second full-length, a follow up to 2002's "Repent". The sound here is quite the mish-mash of styles. There are elements that one can trace back to almost every current sub genre of extreme Metal: Death, Grind, Nu, Thrash, Melodic Death, Hardcore... you name it, and you can probably find it here. Well, OK, there really aren't any Doom or Black Metal aspects to be found, but you get the idea. The songs are pretty cool, yet also pretty typical in today's scene. You have the furious, angst-riddled harsh vocals, and rapid-fire music, that then unfolds to a cleaner, mellower, more accessible chorus. It's like a combo of Fear Factory, Nevermore, In Flames, and a shit-load of Melodic Death bands that I can't even bother remembering the names of. Don't get me wrong, it's not like this sucks. It has the power and the one-two punch to bang your head, and if I saw these guys live, I'd have to hit the pit. The problem is that there are currently a million and one bands that are pimpin' a similar sound, and I find it hard to get excited, or to care about one more. However, if this is your current "thing", then you'll probably be all over this like a drunken jock on a doped-up co-ed, and think I've got my head up my ass. But hey, that's your right. In the end, it's a fun listen, but you probably already have the disc in your collection under a dozen other names. Here's a little info for you collectors out there, you should know that there is the regular version of the disc, and a digi-pack version, both having slightly different covers. See above, regular one is on the left, the digi is on the right. The digi also includes two bonus tracks, "Evil As I" (demo-version) and "Inhuman Condition" (demo-version), as well as some multimedia tracks for your PC. Also, the Japanese pressing of the regular version has the bonus track "Evil As I" (demo-version). For more info, check out construcdead.com.
