DAMNSLANG :
HARD TAKES ROUGH CUTS

After sifting through dozens & dozens of CDs of suicide inducing Black, Death, and Goth-Metal, Damnslang comes as a much needed, and welcome breath of fresh air. Calling their style "Junk Rock", the band's sound is a party-influenced blend of; 70s hard rock (like Goddo), Guns N Roses, The Hellacopters, and Gluecifer. The band was formed in December 1999 in Hamburg Germany, the two originating members however are from other parts of the globe. Vocalist Teddy Dee is from Romania, and bassist Tommy (Animal) Morriello is from Brazil! Rounding out this great band you have; Ray Crow on guitar, Tim Schneider on rhythm guitar, and Kris Finland on drums. These songs are just so instantly infectious… I can't do them justice, you'll need to hear 'em for yourself. Standouts include the Hellacopters-ish "Left For Dead" and the Gluecifer-ish "Satisfied". When I see great bands like this, struggling to get an audience, when other "retro" sounding bands, like the Strokes (god do they suck ass) are Rolling Stones poster boys, it just makes me want to punch the CD buying sheep in the back of the head. Rumour has it that the band's next CD is going to be much heavier…. that could make for some truly essential listening. For more info, check out www.danmslang.com.
