DANCE ON GLASS :
DAYDREAMING

Dance On Glass is more of a project then a real band, it's actually a wife & husband combo. We have Ania Blomberg (Batalion D'Amour) and her hubby, guitarist and musician Dave Blomberg (Nozzle, New Model Army). Ania is originally from Poland, but now they reside in the UK. When playing live, the band has recently been employing Simon Rippin (Fields Of The Nephilim /Nephilim, NFD) on drums, and Steve Cooper (Blythe Power) on bass. As you can probably guess, this disc falls into that middle ground between Goth-Rock and Goth-Metal. Either term is correct depending on what song you're listening to at the time. The closet comparison I can come up with, is that they resemble later day techno-influenced Theatre Of Tragedy, with hints of both Liv Kristine and Danielle Dax when it comes to the vocals. Ania's voice is not all syrupy and sweet like some singers, more of a velvety smooth texture. Her soothing vocals, combined with memorable rhythms, make this disc a winner. They seem to follow the K.I.S.S. principle, no I'm not talking about Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley, what I mean is that they "Keep It Simple Stupid". They use simplified beats and song structures, so after only one spin, you'll "know" these powerful, emotional songs. When you spin it the second time, it'll seem like you have been listening to these songs for years. Each track is both elegant and graceful in their execution. A superior release. For more info, you can find the band's official home here.
RATING = 8 Goth-Metal (Released 2002)
