SOUNDS FROM BEYOND THE SILVER WHEEL

The Dark Muse is the gorgeous Phyll Smith. She has produced a handful of limited CDRs via mp3.com, but this is her first "real" release. Ambient / Darkwave is the name of the game here, as this CD is more a collection of soundscapes, rather then traditional songs. This is music to get lost in. When I first played this disc, it was while I was playing the kick ass PC game, "Return To Castle Wolfenstein", and the levels I was playing, consisted of finding my way through mouldy, darkened tombs, and fighting off rotting zombies… let me tell ya, this CD sure as hell added to the creepiness of the game. It sounded as if the dead were trying to call out from beyond, with ethereal voices that seemed to float all around me. Granted, this is not the type of disc you'll be dancing to, or blasting at your next party, as you pound tequila shots . But, if ya need a mood enhancer of the dark kind, this is for you.
