DARLINGTON :
EUTHANIZE ME

Darlington, out of Dallas Texas, have been at it since 1995, in that time there have been 5 full-length records, and a plethora of EPs and singles. Almost every release from these guys seems to be on a different label, and this time out, they're Duane Peter's Disaster Records. Main man, vocalist, and guitarist Christy Brigitte Darlington (yes, that's a guy) leads his two band mates Steve "Stress" Visneau (drums) and Omar Yefoon (bass), on a 100 mph ride through 12 gripping, f*ck-everything style Punk ditties. The first thing you should know about this particular outing, is that the whole thing was recorded and mixed in 24 hrs! That's absolutely mind-boggling! And if that doesn't impress you, Steve and Omar had not even heard the songs before entering the studio! According to Christy, they ran through 'em one time, then hit record. For some types of music, this would be absolutely impossible, or at best, a sonic disaster. But for Darlington's brand of simplified Punk, it worked out just fine. The songs, have an underbelly of Ramones-styled Pop-Punk, which makes them stick in your head. On the surface however, is a hurricane of snarling, frantic, destroy-society angst that brings to mind bands like; Rancid, Screeching Weasel, and even the Sex Pistols! The recording process has obviously contributed to the overall feeling of urgency that the disc displays, and I guarantee, it'll make you want to run out with your skateboard and start breaking shit. As Christy screams "F*ck 'em" and talks about bringing down religion and government, you get the feeling he damn well means it. I think this is often the sort of sound that non-Punk fans have in their heads when they hear the words Punk-Rock, and that's what will also make it so appealing to you. For more info, you can check them out at Disaster Records.
RATING = 7.5 Punk (Released 2004)
