DAYLIGHT DIES :
DISMANTLING DEVOTION

Ok, this is a weird one, I should love this disc, I should be worshipping at its feet. But I don't, and I'm not. This North Carolina band plays a style of music that is close to my heart, namely that old-school UK Deathly Doom-Metal made popular by such bands as Paradise Lost, Katatonia, and My Dying Bride. One could also make an easy comparison to Novembers Doom. Let me say first, that Daylight Dies has the sound down flat. The sound, and the vocals are awesome, and there are some cool moments to be had, but I'll be hog-tied if I can find a memorable song here. I've played it through four times, and I couldn't hum a few bars of any of these songs if I tried. You could offer me a 1,000.00 bucks to try and recall one, and after straining my brain, I'd be one non-thousand dollar havin' mother f*cker! The rest of the Metal community are jerkin' themselves dry over this disc, but by the time the last note sounds, I find myself both bored, and unfulfilled. For more info, check out daylightdies.com.
