DEATH OF MILLIONS :
STATISTICS AND TRAGEDY

This Texas Death-Metal band formed in 1994, and has been pretty active on the live circuit (including 4 times at the Milwaukee MetalFest, and opening stints for: Cannibal Corpse, Immolation, Nile, Cryptopsy, Deicide, etc.). The band refers to their sound as "severe" Death-Metal, in fact, I think it's so severe, that it really belongs in the Grind-Core sub category (discuss amongst yourselves). DOM likes to keep things at breakneck speed, only occasionally slowing down to a sonic equivalent of 55 mph, before they go tearing off again into speeds that would overload any radar gun. Somehow, in the midst of all this, they manage to create some tangible rhythms, and give us some good tempo changes, which of course keeps your interest level high, and your head nodding in silent approval. The vocals, from Chuck Salvo, are of your typical Death-Metal/Grind guttural, vomit-inducing variety... good, but nothing new. Which is also how I kind of see the disc as a whole, good, almost great, but nothing really new or earth shattering. Fans of the extreme will be glad to own it, and have it in constant rotation with their Cephalic Carnage and Napalm Death CDs. If you don't already get hard for this type of stuff, this probably won't be the disc to change your way of thinking. Statistics And Tragedy is definitely a disc for real men only. For more info on this head-crushing band, check 'em out at deathofmillions.com, although right now, there isn't much there.
RATING = 7.5 Grind-Core (Released 2003)
