My thoughts (on what I've heard so far...)

The best way for me to get across to you how phenomenal this album is going to be, is by telling you the story of the first time I heard the preview Wayne sent me. I hadn't had a chance to listen to the tape the day before, so I popped it into the tapedeck of my van on the way to school the next day. The minute "Rollercoaster" came on, I knew it was going to be a hit. I was more than right. The song starts out extremely strong and increases it's level of greatness so high it nearly floored me. I was driving down route 93 on my way to school, when the song escalated to such a point that my jaw dropped and I just screamed , "FUCK!". From that point on I knew the new material could not dissapoint. The dungs have not lost any of the momentum they built up with the release of the stupendous "Driving on Neptune". By keeping the same mix of emotion, snotty vocals, and adding an even harder edge to the guitars, the dungs have once again matured for the better. The rest of the songs on the preview did not dissapoint me. Each of them is brilliant in it's own way. "Youth Anthem #9" is a great sing along tune that'll be stuck in your head for weeks. "Toughman" follows in the same steps. It's hard to describe exactly what makes the songs so great, but one thing I noticed is that none of the songs get boring, they all make tons of quick paced changes, whether its from slow to fast; or from soft and soothing to loud and harsh; every song has it's own twists. "Paper Snow" is possibly one of the best penned songs (although they're all brilliant, and don't think I'm just laying it on thick because Wayne has been so nice to me, this album is going to blow you away, I guarentee it), showing just how great a lyricist Brandon Dung has become.

What is written above cannot even begin to display the amount of punch this album is going to pack. I haven't even heard half the album and I'm already dead certain that this album will most likely go down as one of the best pop-punk albums of '99, and I'm sure most will consider it the best Mutant Pop full length to date. You'll be able to grab the album in all its glory on May 18th (that's the scheduled release date, which is subject to change, but that is most likely the day it'll be out, check the Mutant Pop page in the upcoming months for more info. I'll also keep you updated on all the necessary news as I find out about it.
