"...to ease the pain of changing from Boyz II Men..."
"II" was Boyz II Men's second major album, and it sure lived up to expectations.
The group was worried about the 'sophomore slump' that all bands face on the
release of their 2nd album, but they really had no need for concern. The first
single off the album "I'll Make Love To You" spent 14 weeks on the #1 position
on America's Billboard charts, only to be knocked off by (my favourite song)
"On Bended Knee". (Equalling Whitney Houston's record for "I Will Always Love You",
now coming equal second behind the Boyz' duet with Mariah Carey, "One Sweet Day",
which spent 16 weeks at #1).
The group obviously matured a lot in the two years since the re-release of "Cooleyhighharmony",
both vocally and lyrically. There is no way they could have pulled off "Water Runs Dry"
two years earlier, or have been able to record "Thank You" - a capella!!!
