The opening song to Recovering the Satellites was a charmingly bitter recalling of Adam's many relationship disappointments. The album version was moderately coarse, while remaining soft and a little sad. The I'll-show-you misgivings aren't dulled in the rewrite contained on the live cd. "I wanna be the light that burns out your eyes, cause I know little things about me that would sing in the silence of so much rejection in every connection I make.. can't find nobody home.." This line sort of sums up the depth of the entire song; left alone again, Adam writes and so longingly sings about his desire to blow the minds of everybody with the talents he's left hidden til now -- the only problem is, there's nobody around to notice. Again we find Adam crying out for someone to save him, but nobody listens; no one seems to care. a lonely one influences his music; but injected in his music I've read articles and interviews in which Adam has stated that he can't seem to believe that anyone really cares that he's around. His view of life as is always an underlying hope of redemption. And after all, isn't that what we all hope for? |
