CHAPTER THREE
"Hold still!" Vic yelled as she applied my liquid eyeliner. I was never too good at that kind of thing, and Vic was. She was helping me. "You are going to look so gorgeous when I am finished with you," she said. "Don't worry!"
"I'm not.." I said trying to remain still.
"You never tired putting any of this crap on?" she said. "It looks really pretty if you would just take the time to do it! I mean, I think it could fix even you!" she said jokingly.
"Shutup!" I said pretending to be hurt. "But I have no time! And I am not waking up earlier just to do it," I said disgusted at the thought.
"Well you'll have to try it some time," she said smiling.
"Sure," I replied sarcastically.
In about 20 minutes, I was completely ready. Of course, Vic and I had gone shopping all day for the perfect outfit. I ended up bringing home tight black dress pants, a leopard print tank top, and a black leather jacket. I also bought some leopard platform sandals. I guess it was safe to say I liked leopard.
"You look great Summer!" Vic said enthusiastically. "I did a pretty damn good job!" she joked. "Well, you ready?" I smiled.
"Yup. More than ready!"
* * * * * * *
15 more minutes had passed. He wasn't here. There Vic and I sat, silently sipping our coffees. I checked my watch, wondering where he was. "Well, I guess I better go upstairs and take this paint off of my face," I said distressed.
"Hell no girl! He'll be here, trust me," she said reassuringly.
"I sure hope so. I mean, all this good make-up to waste!" I joked. Silence invaded the small kitchen in Vic’s apartment.
"Man, I hope I still have time to finish my paper tonight after our date," I said while sighing loudly.
"Summer, if you don't have time, why are you still going on this date? I mean, come on! You gotta finish that paper!" Vic said paternally.
"Well, for one, I really like him, and for two, I was kinda wondering if you could help me with it. I mean, since you're all good at that stuff," I said hopefully. Victoria was a writer, and was very good at British Literature.
"Of course!" she said happily. "You were gonna spend the night right?" she asked.
"Yeah, I mean, if its cool by you," I replied. I was waiting for her to ask me. I knew she would. "I was gonna fill ya in on my date too, but I guess it could wait till morning." I put my head down and snuck an eye up at her, knowing she couldn't resist the pity.
"Of course you can stay! Course course! But we have to do that paper, no matter how tired you are!"
"I know, I know, we will!" I laughed out loud. "You know, I hope there's something to fill you in on," I said, a semi-concerned look flooding my face.
"I'm sure there will be!" Vic said lightening my mood.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK. I jumped to get it, but Vic held up her hand. I sat alone waiting in the kitchen. I tried to listen but I couldn't make it all out.
"Summer! Someone’s here!" Vic screamed.
"Who is it?" I said, trying to be funny.
"Just get your butt out here and see!" she yelled back at me, laughing. I made my way around the corner to the front room in Victoria’s small apartment. That’s when I saw him.
He turned and saw me. He was wearing baggy khaki cargo pants and a blue plaid button shirt with a wife beater under it. He looked great. "I'm so sorry babes. I got caught-"
I cut in. "Don't worry about it. It's cool, really," I smiled and looked him straight in the eye.
Vic interrupted our little moment. "I've heard a lot about you Sean," she said while smiling. "And although its been nice to finally meet you, I have to go. I have a date with Jack Dawson." She smiled and turned to me. "Have a great time, and don't do anything I wouldn't do on the first date." She winked.
"Thank you," I whispered. She smiled and winked, made a final wave to Sean, and with that, was gone.
Then Sean looked over at me and said, "Shall we?" He outstretched his arm to me and I gladly intertwined my arm into his.
"We shall," I said happily as we walked out to his car.
"Great," he said. "You know, you look really nice tonight. Really." He slipped me that sly, sexy smile. Oh tonight was gonna be great.
"Thanks. Its really sweet of you," I said feeling my cheeks turn pink. I hated the way I blushed so much. I would have started playing with my hair had my hand been free.
"Are you blushing?" he said laughing a little. I shot him an evil glance. "I haven't given you much to blush about babe," he cleared his throat. "Yet."
I smiled and giggled a little as we both hopped into his car. Off we go.
