» CHAPTER ONE «

How do you know when someone is the one for you? I've been asking myself if Alex is the one for me since Christmas of '98. He asked me to marry him in front of all of my family - which is just my dad and four brothers. My mom and twin sister, Alexys, died in a plane crash a year ago. It was really hard on my dad. My mom left five kids for him to take care of. I was 19 when it happened.

The next oldest was David who was 17, then 16 year old James, then 13 year old Ashton and last was Matthew at barely 2 years old. He's growing up with no mother figure in his life except me, but I haven't been around much lately with college (I go to Tampa University) and touring as Alex and the other Boys' opening act. I just started my singing career about the time my mom and sister died.

Alex doesn't have any family except his mom; he loves spending time at my house and down the road at Nick's parents’ house. Nick has three younger sisters, - Leslie, BJ, and Angel. He also has a younger brother, Aaron. Aaron and Angel are twins. I'm really good friends with BJ and Nick. The Boys in the band Alex is in are Nick, Brian, Kevin and Howie. Alex goes by AJ in the public because his middle name is James. He's asked me to call him AJ, but I can't do it, I have to call him Alex for some reason.

"Honey, Alex is here!" my dad yelled up the stairs.

"Coming, Dad!" I yelled back trying to get my hair up in a pony tail.

"Hey, Tori." Alex greeted me with a light kiss on the lips.

"Hi, ready to go?" I asked anxious to get out of the house.

"Yeah, the guys are waiting for us down at Nick's parents house" AJ replied.

"Bye, Dad. I'll be home in time to cook dinner" I called walking out the door.

"Bye, honey" my dad called as I shut the door.

In AJ's Dodge Durango I fiddled with the engagement ring as he flipped through the stations.

"Hey, go back to that station" I replied hearing my favorite song of all time - "I'll Never Break Your Heart".

"I've heard that song way too much, besides that I have to sing it just about every day" AJ whined.

"But you know it's my favorite song, sweetie."

"I'll sing it to you later."

"I wanna listen to it now."

"You have the CD."

"Not with me."

"Look, we're here and the song's over."

"See what you did. You made me miss my favorite song." I pouted as we walked up the steps of Mr. and Mrs. Carter’s house.

"The door's open!" Mrs. Carter yelled.

"Vicki!" Aaron and Angel yelled running down the stairs.

"How're my favorite blondes?"

"Good" The two replied happily.

"Are you gonna play in the pool with us?" Aaron asked.

"Maybe when we get back. I'm going out with Alex and the other guys, but when I get back I promise I'll play with you in the pool."

"Ok." With that they ran off towards the back yard.

"Nickolas Gene Carter! Get your butt down here right now!" Alex yelled walking half way up the stairs.

"Hey, Lover Birds." Nick and Brian greeted us.

"Hi, guys" Kevin replied from behind Nick, Brian and Howie.

"Hi, big brother" I greeted him. "What were you doing up stairs? Watching a porno flick?"

"We're not that perverted" Nick replied. "We were playing N64."

"C'mon, lets go" an impatient Howie replied pushing us out the door.

"Bye mom!" The guys and I yelled to Mrs. Carter. Ever since I met Jane she's been like a second mother to me. We all call her mom along with Bri's mom, Kev's mom, Howie's mom and Alex's mom. Of course Denise will be my mom soon. The wedding date is set for April 25, 1998. That's my mom’s birthday.
