» CHAPTER TEN «

Brian had fallen asleep by the time we arrived at my home. I brushed a curl away from his face. "Brian, dude, you gotta wake up. I can't carry you in."

He got up and we walked inside. I told him to lie down on the couch. I grabbed my warmest blankets and placed them on him. I took his temperature. 101.4. Ouch, he was sick.

"Buddy, temp's 101.4," I recalled, "You need to stay in bed for a while until it goes down, okay?"

He smiled weakly, "Thank you for letting me stay here and for letting me put my hands down your shirt... I mean... that came out all wrong."

"I understand," I got up from his side. "Get some rest." I walked out of the room.

"Morgan?" I heard Brian call me.

"Huh?"

"Can you call the guys and tell them my predicament?"

"Sure."

"Ya'll are TOO kind!" he weakly mocked a stereotype of a Southern woman.

I called up his house and Nick answered. "Hello?"

"Hey, Nick, this is Morgan," I told him.

He greeted me and asked what I needed. In the background, I heard the others. AJ was screaming at Howie about something playfully. Kevin was singing and Howie was laughing.

"Well, Brian got sick so he is gonna stay here with me just for tonight."

"I dunno, I'm not sure if I want my pal come back to me in several pieces..."

"We made a truce, so don't worry."

"Cool. I'll tell the others for you. See ya later, Morgan." He hung up. I hung up the phone and turned off the light.

"Wait!" Brian tried catching my attention.

I walked over to him again and kneeled down. "Yes?"

"Today was fun," he remarked. He stared at me with those beautiful eyes.

I rubbed his head and played with one of his bouncy curls. "It was."

"Were you embarrassed?" He wanted my opinion.

"I don't follow."

"When we were in the lake... were you?"
