» CHAPTER ELEVEN «
"Very."
Brian cocked his head. "Why?"
I shrugged. "I dunno. You were cute in the rain, I suppose." I really didn't know.
"I was just thinking about it for a second," he told me, "Now go to bed." I rubbed his head one more time and then left to retire to my bedroom.
I woke up and padded downstairs the next morning. Brian was still asleep but looked better. I went to the kitchen and felt like cooking. I decided on my Mom's special recipe on pancakes. I brought out all the ingredients and piled them together. I placed a glob of batter and waited patiently. Then, with precision, I flipped it high the air.
"Nice," I heard Brian say behind me.
I turned to speak to him, "Did you take your temperature?"
"No," he replied, "I was looking for the thermometer." I flipped the pancake, then found the instrument and tossed it to Brian. He positioned it in his mouth. I took the pancake off the griddle and placed another gooey mess on it. A small beep went off. "98.6."
"Lemme see." I put my hand out. He put it in my hand. It was indeed what he told me. "Come here." He came closer. I felt his forehead. He felt normal. "That's weird. You got well so fast." I flipped the pancake.
"Need help?" Brian asked. I shook my head, took off the pancake and replaced it with batter. "Well, I'll go to my place really quick and grab some clothes and be right back, okay?" he told me. I nodded, flipped and he left. But the thought of him never left.
