» CHAPTER NINETEEN «
They stepped out and I swore I felt my heart stop. There was Nick, in the flesh.
"Today we're here..." Nick looked at his brother, Drew, who was mocking him. "To present the..." Nick looked again. "Best Rap Video... Quit, Bro!"
"No!" he yelled back, just like the cue card said. "It's not fair that you get to do everything."
"That's not my problem, now is it?"
"I hate you."
"Here are the nominees."
Brian and the rest came back while the nominees were presented. I gave Brian another hug. "That was so cool."
"Thanks, did we miss much?"
"Just Drew and Nick Lachey from 98 Degrees having a sibling rivalry."
"Oh, then I didn't miss much?" He laughed.
The award show ended later and we returned to the limo that waited for us. We got in but drove in the opposite direction from home. "Where are we going?" I asked, looking out the window.
"The after-party," Nick told me. He looked excited. "A lot of celebs will be there. It's so fun!" The get-together wasn't too far away from the show.
"Wow, this is kickin'!" I exclaimed after hearing the mondo vibes. "I feel like dancing!"
"Then you can join me on the second!" AJ said, jogging past me somewhere. I gave Kevin a distressed look.
"The second floor is all dancing, the third is food and the first is basically a group greeting sorta thing."
Brian grabbed my hand. "So, who do you want to see first?"
"Are the 98 Degrees here?" I looked around.
"Yes, in fact, they're right over there." Brian pointed to my left. He and I walked over to them. "Hi."
"Hey there, Brian!" Nick greeted in return. Everyone shook hands. "And who is this mysteriously fine lady accompanying you tonight?"
"This is Morgan. Morgan, this is Nick, Drew, Justin and Jeff," he introduced us, "All I can say about her is stay away from that right arm. She can pack a punch like nothing."
"Nice to meet you all." I also shook their hands. "I'm a big fan of 98 Degrees."
"Really?" Nick seemed interested.
"Yeah, I love your work."
"Thank you, it's flattering to hear that some many people, including yourself, like our music."
I looked at Brian, who looked like he regretted taking me to them. "Well, we should be getting on. Lots more people to see. It was great meeting you." Brian and I left.
