» CHAPTER NINE «
We returned to the car and Brian told me to get in the backseat. He grabbed a blanket and laid it across me. "Thank you," I said when we pulled away.
"Go to sleep, we have a long ride home plus I have to grab something," he planned out loud.
I nodded off. In my dream, I was in the same park. Near the dock, in the water, was a figure swimming. It was a hot, steamy day. I walked on the deck. The man sat of the edge. I approached him and I bent down and kissed him. But couldn't see the face. I wanted to see his face so bad.
I woke up with a start.
"Bad dream?" Brian asked, his eyes looked at me through his rear view mirror.
"I'm not sure." My vision was blurred and I couldn't see anything. "We almost home?"
He nodded. "You any better?" I told him I was much warmer. I looked at him. He was apparently freezing.
"Pull over," I commanded him. He did. "Get out of the car." He did that too. I took off the blanket and put it on him. I rubbed him.
"My lips are numb," he informed. I put my finger on his lips. They were icy cold. I pulled his hands to his mouth, but they were turning white.
"They're like blocks of ice," I commented. We needed to get them warm. Fast. I only thought of one thing.
"Get in the back for a second," I instructed again. He got in and I followed. "Okay, this is gonna sound crazy and perverted, but put your hands on my back." He put them reluctantly on my back. "No, under my shirt," I pointed out, "It's sounds sick, but my back is giving off loads of heat and you need some fast."
He slid his large hands under my shirt. I shivered slightly. But I didn't know why. He was nervous, I could tell, because he couldn't figure out a spot to keep his hands. They got warmer and I took them out. I got into the front and drove the rest of the way to my place.
