» CHAPTER NINE «

Brian woke up in the middle of the night. He was thirsty and hungry. He looked at Emily. She looked so innocent. So beautiful, he thought to himself as he took his sleeping bag and put it on her. She snuggled against it not saying anything. Brian leaned over and caressed her cheek. He lay down and closed his eyes. He was freezing.

I woke up with the birds. I was surprised to see the sleeping bag on me. I smiled. Brian was always sweet like that. I got out of the tent.

Brian was sitting on a log. He had a whole bunch of sticks with him. He was still in his black wife beater. "My gosh…aren't you cold?" I asked him.

He shrugged and continued bunching up the sticks together. For fire I suppose. "How are we going to wash ourselves?" I cried.

Brian shrugged. He was angering me really bad. "What is that supposed to mean?" I cried.

Brian put his sticks down and looked me straight in the eyes. "It means," he said. "That I have no clue as to what I am doing," There was a softness in his tone and I ignored him after that. I grabbed my backpack. I had to find food. All I had was gum. I cried out in frustration.

"NO FOOD!" I screamed loudly. I saw some birds fly away. Brian laughed.

"What is so funny?" I asked him.

"That was funny what you just did," he said.

"Harty har har" I responded. Brian kept laughing. I was infuriated. "Shut up Brian," I cried.

He stopped right away. He dropped the sticks. "Emily? Do you hate me?" he asked.

I stared at his well toned body, His cute hair and his sparkling blue eyes. Of course I didn't hate him. "No," I responded. "But," I continued. "Thank you for making me your inspiration of your song 'Don't Want You Back' " Brian looked confused after I said that.

"That song was NOT about you," he said.

"You never returned my calls, you didn't bother to even check up on me when you heard that my grandma had a heart attack,"

"Emily…I'm sorry,"

"Me too…I should've gone out with Nick when I had to chance," Brian's eyes flashed.

"Enjoy your life with Nick," he said. I sat down and cried. Brian saw my tears. But this time he didn't bother to say anything.

I didn't know what to do after that.
