» CHAPTER TWO «
Robyn looked at Kel. "Ain't you going to answer that?" Kel asked when the bell rang for the third time. Robyn hesitantly got off the stool she was sitting on and answered the door.
"Hiya roomy," Brian smiled at her stepping inside with a few boxes. Robyn made a face and forced herself to responded back with a hello. Following Brian was a tall blond boy and a girl with brown shoulder length hair and eyes that were a deep brown.
"Hi," the boy said to Robyn. "I am Nick, Brian's friend and this is my girlfriend Rita."
"Hi. I am Robyn and that is my friend Kel," Robyn advised shaking Nick's hand then Rita's.
"Hi," Kel called from the living room waving at the three with a big grin plastered on her face.
"Hey," Rita said. Robyn led Nick and Rita to the living room and told them to sit down. Brian reappeared and called for Nick to check out the bedroom. Nick and Rita went to Brian's bedroom.
"This room is bigger than your old one!" Nick exclaimed amazed.
"I know. It's great, isn't it?" Brian said.
"Its way bigger than the old bedroom," Rita said still shocked.
"I can put my bed, my television, my stereo and my computer and I will still have room," Brian boasted. Robyn appeared at the doorway and grimly asked if they will like to have anything to drink. "Thanks," Brian said, "But I still have a ton of my things downstairs that I have to get so maybe afterwards."
"Yeah of course," Robyn said.
Nick and Brian went downstairs to get Brian's things while Rita stood upstairs with Robyn and Kel talking. "This is a pretty nice place you have here. Its so big and roomy," Rita told Robyn striking up a conversation.
"Um, thanks," Robyn thanked her.
"Have you lived in New York City all your life?" Rita began to question.
"Oh, um yeah. I was raised in Park Avenue around the Metropolitan Museum of Art with my older sister and parents," Robyn answered. "Have you?"
Rita shook her head. "I moved here when I was 16 years old. That's how I met Nick and Brian, in high school. Nick had volunteered to show me around the school since I was new,"
"Have you guys been together since then?" Kel asked being nosy.
"Yeah. Its been 3 years," Rita smiled happily.
"Good relationship, uh?" Kel asked.
"Yeah. How can you tell?" Rita said surprised.
"The way you are smiling and you have this look in your eyes," Kel explained. Robyn thought she was about to gag from all this talk about relationships and crap. It had been a year since her last serious relationship with a man. Luckily for her Nick walked in asking for help with the several boxes.
Rita, Robyn and Kel all got up from their seats to help Nick. As they were going back to the living room, after taking the things to Brian's bedroom Brian walked in eating a hot-dog and carrying two pillows. The others all stared at him. "What?" he asked.
"We are here bringing your sh*t to your bedroom and you come in with two pillows while eating a hot-dog!?" Nick exclaimed.
"Oh," Brian said realizing that. "Thanks." Nick and Rita groaned as Kel giggled and Robyn made a face. Robyn had a feeling that she was going to regret letting Brian live with her.
"Hey, Robyn who is that girl that lives next door?" Brian asked.
"Which girl? There are more than one living here," Robyn rudely said.
"You must mean Jenn. She is very nosy and knows practically everybody's business that lives in the building," Kel advised Brian.
"Does she have reddish brownish hair and is about Robyn's height?" Brian questioned.
"Yup," Kel answered.
"Oh, okay," Brian said making a mental note to try and avoid this girl.
"She's nice just very nosy, right Robyn?" Kel asked.
"Um, yeah. I guess," Robyn mumbled.
~ Later That Evening Around Seven O'Clock ~
Nick, Rita and Kel all had left a while ago leaving Brian alone with a moody and b*tchy Robyn.
"So do you have a boyfriend?" Brian asked Robyn trying to make conversation.
Robyn glared at him with evil eyes. "No" she answered coldly.
"Oh. Sorry to hear that but don’t feel bad I just broke up with my girlfriend last week if that would make you feel any better," Brian smiled at her.
"WOW!" Robyn exclaimed sarcastically. "You just made my day. Now I know I am not the only one single in a city of 5 million people. I feel so much more better. Thank you very much Brian." And with that Robyn stormed off to her bedroom, leaving Brian flabbergasted and shocked. He had not realize how touchy Robyn was until that moment.
Brian knocked on her bedroom door to apologize to her. "Leave me the hell alone," Robyn yelled from inside the room.
"Robyn, I am sorry for what I said," Brian apologized sincerely.
"I said leave me. Want me to say it in Spanish for you? Well,-"
Brian cut Robyn off before she could say a word more. "Fine, I will leave you alone but please know that I am sorry and I just wanted to have a friendly conversation with you."
"LEAVE ME ALONE!" Robyn yelled even louder than before.
"Okay okay," Brian said under his breath as he walked away.
Robyn laid in her bed feeling a bit guilty for treating Brian the way she did. She was going to go and apologize for her rudeness but decided against it because she felt he should have not said anything like that to her no matter what. What allows him think I feel bad because I do not have a man? Robyn thought to herself. Nothing. Absolutely nothing does so he got what he deserved, she added closing her eyes and falling into a deep sleep.
