» CHAPTER TEN «

The four couples played in the water, racing, and splashing each other for the next hour or so. Nick swam briskly over to Skyle and playfully wrapped his arms around her waist and guided her away from the group.

"What are you doing?" she whispered.

"Kidnapping you," he replied, grinning.

"Promise you’ll keep me?" she smiled turning her neck to look into his eyes, and lightly kissing his lips.

"Ohhh yeah! With a kiss like that, I’d be crazy not to!" AJ noticed Nick and Skyle climbing out of the water. "Hey, where you two off to?"

Nick just grinned and led Skyle over to a secluded shady spot, to be alone.

"Man, I’m hungry!" Brian’s stomach growled, during a rare moment of silence. Everyone burst into laughter.

"Obviously…" Brianna rolled her eyes.

"Let’s take a break and get something to eat," Kevin decided, leading the way.

Summer began to wade through the water to reach shore, when AJ grabbed her by her waist and in one swoop picked her up and splashed her into the water. She came up, water pouring along her body, with a look of vengeance on her face. Summer then made a mad lunge across the water toward AJ. AJ looked at the guys, who were sitting on dry land now, for help. They were too involved with food to even notice what was going on in the water, or with Nick and Skyle.

The couple was enraptured in a passionate kiss, while the shade protected them from the Florida sun. Skyle could feel little cold water droplets from Nick’s hair falling on her bare shoulders. She shuddered slightly, as a cool breeze blew around them. Nick broke the kiss, finally, and asked, "You cold?"

"Nah…just a chill," she smiled.

"Well, I don’t want my girlfriend having chills because of my kisses now!" he smiled, acting egotistical.

"You only wish your kisses had that much effect on me…" she playfully pushed his bare chest. Nick seized the opportunity and grabbed her hand and pulled her to him, for another kiss.

"Do you think they’re going to come up for air anytime soon?" Ally asked, looking in the direction of Nick and Skyle.

"Who? Them or AJ and Summer?" Brian asked, looking into the water. AJ and Summer had finally called it a truce and were now floating lazily inside a raft. AJ was propped up on his elbow, while Summer laid on her back, looking into his enchanting eyes. He gently caressed her cheek with his hand, then leaned down to give her a tender kiss.

"I guess we’re the only couples not making out," Brianna concluded, looking around her.

"Um, correction sweetie. We’re the only couple," Brian put emphasis on the singular noun, "not making out." Brian nodded his head in Kevin and Ally’s direction. The two of them had gotten up and were walking, hand in hand, around the area.

"I’ve had a lot of fun. Thanks for inviting me, Kev," Ally smiled into his green eyes.

"You’re quite welcome. I’ve had a lot of fun, too. You mean a whole lot to me, Ally. You know that, right?" Kevin stopped walking and turned to face her.

"Well, you mean a lot to me, Kevin," she replied, smiling. She traced his face with her eyes and knew there was something more he wanted to say, but wasn’t telling her.

Brian and Brianna looked blankly at each other. "So uh, how ‘bout them Yankees?" Brian grinned, using the infamous conversation starter.

"I don’t care about the Yankees. I only care about you," Brianna stood on her knees, then leaned over to kiss Brian.

"Mmm…can’t argue with that," he kissed her sweet lips again, wrapping his hands around her bare midriff.

"Hey Nick," Skyle broke their comfortable silence, as she rested her head on his chest.

"Hmm?" he asked, absentmindedly fondling with her sunny blonde hair.

"I love you."

Nick smiled. She had no idea how much he loved hearing those three little words flow from her mouth. "I love you, too."
