» CHAPTER EIGHT «

The following morning Nick dialed in his girlfriend’s phone number and waited to hear her soft voice answer. Skyle rolled over in her bed and pulled the blankets over her head, trying to ignore the ringing of the telephone. It was no use…she was wide-awake now.

"Hello?" she picked up the telephone annoyed.

"Morning sunshine!" Nick chirped happily on the other end of the phone.

"What do you want?" she replied monotone.

"Geez…someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!" Nick replied.

"I wouldn’t have if someone hadn’t called me!" Skyle snapped, deciding to put on her pink bunny slippers and get out of bed.

"I’m sorry baby. You forgive me?" Nick cooed to his girlfriend.

She smiled and rolled her eyes. "I’ll think about it…"

"Aw, c’mon, I’m really sorry. I’ll even let you go back to sleep if you want," Nick offered.

"No, no…it’s fine. I was just joking. So, what do you want?" Skyle wandered downstairs into the kitchen and poured herself a bowl of cereal.

"Well…I thought that maybe we could go out on the boat today. Sound good?"

"Yeah, sounds great! Just you and me…alone…" she smiled quietly, pouring the milk into her dry cereal.

"Uh…" Nick paused, fumbling for words. "Do you, uh, mind if the guys come along too?"

"Nick please tell me you’re kidding!" Skyle half laughed. After a moment of silence, Skyle continued, "Nick, we never do anything alone anymore!! It’s always with the guys and their girlfriends. I miss doing things with just you."

"I know sweetie, so do I, but AJ wants us to do this for him."

"AJ? What does he have to do with anything?" Skyle crunched into her cereal, after asking questions.

"Are you eating?" Nick laughed, changing the subject momentarily.

"Mmhmm," his girlfriend mumbled.

"Ok, anyways, AJ told me that he’s thinking about asking his new girlfriend to come along on the tour, and so he thought this would be a good way for all of you girls to get better acquainted."

"Yeah right…the only person AJ wants to get better acquainted with is his girlfriend," Skyle rolled her eyes, still slightly irritated that her and Nick would have to share each other’s attention.

"Skyle, you’re not being fair. Why don’t you give it a chance? You can get to know Summer better, and I promise, you and I will do something completely alone after this. No more group events, okay?" Nick pleaded for Skyle to agree.

"Okay, Nick, but this had better be it. I mean, please don’t get me wrong. You know that I love the guys to death and I love the girls like sisters, but I feel like you and I aren’t as close as we should be."

Nick knew that if the other guys had heard her say that, they would beg to differ. Especially after the way they were so affectionate toward each other the previous night. Nick just nodded his head in agreement, "I promise. Okay? Now…make sure you wear that purple bikini of yours."

"Excuse me?" she raised an eyebrow, as she returned to her bedroom.

"You heard me. Now get your cute butt ready, so you can come early, and we’ll spend a little one on one time."

"Sounds like a plan to me! Later sweets!" Skyle began digging in her drawers, searching for a bathing suit. Despite not being able to be alone with her boyfriend, she was actually pretty excited for the day ahead of her.
