» CHAPTER SIXTEEN «

~ Back At The Hotel ~

 "Well this is it guys, our last show at this hotel," Brian said.

"And this is my last day in Florida," Rebecca said.

"What are you talking about?" Kevin asked.

"I went to the doctor today and he told me there’s only a one-percent chance of me getting pregnant. So now there’s nothing to keep me here. The reunion’s over and there’s no need to try for a child because I basically can’t have one. And why would you care anyway? You’re leaving after your last show tonight, so I’m leaving too."

"I’ll be leaving too," A.J. muttered under his breath.

The show started and the guys began belting out "Larger Than Life". They had a special fireworks show and then it was all over. As the last firework burst, a tear streamed down Mary’s cheek. All she wanted was for Nick to understand that she needed him.

They were in Disney World, and that was where A.J. and Julie had first said they loved each other. A.J. was flooded with emotions and decided he would go that night. He could no longer wait.

"Rebecca, I want you to stay," Kevin said.

"Why?"

"I like your company, you’re fun to be with."

"But that’s not enough."

"Listen Rebecca, you know how I feel about you," Kevin said.

"No, actually, I don’t," Rebecca said, walking away from the one person that truly made her happy.

"I’ll see you guys later," A.J. said.

"Where are you going?" Howie asked.

"To a better place," A.J. said, getting into his car.

Kevin wanted with all of his heart to chase after Rebecca, but he knew that A.J.’s life was at stake. Kevin got into his car and sped after A.J., hoping to catch him before it was too late.

"Um, Nick, can I talk to you for a second?" Mary asked uncertainly.

"What is it?" Nick questioned her.

"I just wanted to make sure that there wasn’t any chance of us reconciling because if there isn’t I’m leaving with Rebecca."

"Then you’d better start packing because your flight leaves in 20 minutes," Nick answered coldly, walking away. As soon as he had said it, Nick wished he could have taken every word back.

Mary stood there all alone. She felt as if Nick had ripped out her heart right out of her chest and stepped all over it. She sighed and walked back to her hotel room.
