» CHAPTER TWO «

"There’s no more ice," A.J. announced as he dropped the last ice cube in his drink.

"I’ll go get some more," Kevin offered.

"I’ll go with you," Nick said, jumping up.

"Please hurry, my drink is getting warm!" A.J. shouted after them. That was the last time the guys saw A.J. that night.

"Girl, you said there would be a gift shop here," Mary whined.

"No, I said there might be," Rebecca corrected.

"Kev, where’s the ice machine?" Nick asked.

"It should be just around this corner," Kevin said.

Suddenly, Kevin and Nick collided with two young women. "I’m so sorry," Kevin said, helping the girls up.

"It’s okay," Rebecca said.

"Rebecca?" Kevin asked.

"Hi Kevin," Rebecca said, giving a friendly hug to an old friend. "I’d like you to meet my best friend Mary."

"And I’d like you to meet Nick," Kevin said.

"Hi," Mary said shyly.

When Nick and Mary locked eyes a passion was ignited. Something deep inside of Mary was telling her that Nick was the guy for her.

"Hi," Nick said with a smile so sweet that it made Mary’s heart skip a beat.

"Hey, why don’t we all go to Chuckie’s? We used to go there all the time. Me, Kevin, and the rest of the Disney characters. It was our fave place to chow," Rebecca said.

"Great idea," Kevin said.

Nick and Mary nodded and followed behind them. They were too concerned about each other to care where they ate.

Nick smiled and began the conversation. "So, what brings you to Florida?"

"Well actually, Rebecca played Jasmine at Disney a few years back and she was invited to this reunion. She didn’t want to go so I convinced her to go so I could see you guys," Mary explained.

"You have beautiful eyes," Nick blurted out.

"Thank you," Mary said, blushing. She was blushing so hard she felt as if her face would crack off.

"I’m sorry, it’s just that you are a very beautiful woman and I couldn’t help noticing you," Nick explained. "So… do you have a boyfriend?"

"Yes I do, his name is Christian," Mary said, taking out his picture and showing it to Nick. He was very handsome and built. Nick didn’t know how to compare to him.

"How long have you been together for?" Nick asked, continuing to pump Mary for answers.

"We’ve been together for three years."

"Okay, I’ve got another one for you. Who’s your favorite Backstreet Boy?"

"You are. But why are you asking me all these questions? Don’t you have a girlfriend?" Mary asked.

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot about Mandi," Nick said, pulling her picture out of his wallet.

"She’s very beautiful," Mary observed.

"Not as beautiful as you," Nick said. Once again, Nick spoke without thinking. Mary turned as red as a rose.

"You guys coming?" Kevin asked, opening the door to the backseat of his car.

"Yes," they answered in unison.
