» CHAPTER NINE «

~ The Next Morning ~

 "Yes, I’ll have the Belgian waffle," Kevin said to the waiter at the hotel restaurant.

"Okay, now that we all ordered I have big news," Brian said.

"What is it?" Howie asked eagerly.

"A.J. called me last night. He said he had an emergency and he couldn’t contact us and that he’ll be gone for a few days," Brian explained.

"Well what’s the emergency?" Kevin asked.

"He told me he’d tell me when he could deal with it," Brian said.

"The other morning at 6:30 I saw A.J. at the beach talking to some woman," Nick said.

"Did he say anything to you?" Howie asked.

"No, but I was gonna say hi when he started talking to the woman," Nick explained.

"Enough about A.J., I want to know about you and Rebecca. What exactly happened last night?" Brian asked.

"Why are you making a big deal out of this?" Kevin asked, wiping his mouth.

"Because you’re sleeping with a beautiful woman that you’re just friends with. You two can have sex as much as you want and there are no strings attached," Brian explained.

"You know, he’s right," Howie said, taking a sip of orange juice.

"I don’t like to call it sex, I like to call it creating a child," Kevin said.

"Well it’s not like you’re not enjoying it," Nick said. Kevin smiled.

"Now I know she must be good because Kevin cracked a smile," Brian pointed out.

"Where is she now?" Nick asked.

"In bed resting, waiting for Daddy to come home," Kevin said with a smirk. "Okay enough picking on me. So Nick, what’s going on with you and Mandi? Or is it Mary?"

"I call it none of your business," Nick snapped.

"So there is something going on," Howie said.

"Look, I’ll admit I’m attracted to her, actually I’m very attracted to her, but she has someone and so do I."

"Word on the street is that she’s attracted to you too," Kevin offered.

"Really?" Nick asked, suddenly interested in the conversation.

"Her exact words were, ‘Nick has the most tantalizing blue eyes I’ve ever seen and his smile is worth a million dollars. I get all giddy around him, he’s so charming’," Kevin said.

"How do you know she said that?" Nick asked, suddenly questioning Kevin’s sources.

"Let’s just say I know how to pump information out of Rebecca," Kevin said.

"Well I gotta go pay Mary a visit now," Nick said as he threw money on the table.
