» CHAPTER FIVE «
Jordan checked the pie in the oven. Still not cooked. As she closed the oven, the doorbell sounded. She opened the door to Brian's smiling face.
"Hey Jordan."
"Hey, come in, thank you for coming" she said shutting the door behind him.
Jordan had asked Brian over to her condo to help her pick something out. She needed a "guy's" opinion and since Brian was best friend's with Nick, she asked him.
Half hour later Jordan emerged from her room. "What do you think about this one?" Jordan asked dressed in a black skirt and a dark blue spaghetti strapped shirt. The shirt was just high enough to show off her belly button ring.
"It looks fine, just like the last 10 you put on," Brian said trying to get her to choose one.
She needed something that would make Nick notice her, want her. "Fine?!?, I have to find something else," she said heading back to her room.
Brian got off the couch and turned her around to face him. "Look, the outfit you're wearing looks great. Nick will love it."
"Thanx," she said giving him a hug.
"To tell you the truth, I think Nick was blind all these years," he whispered making her smile. "What is that?" he said smelling something burning.
"Oh my god, MY PIE!"

"What are you saying?" Nick asked getting up off the sofa.
"You're joking right?" Jana asked still situated on the couch.
"We're friends, that's what we've been ever since I can remember. That's what she sees me as."
"You really think that?"
"Yeah...why?"
Jana got off the couch and walked over to Nick. "How do you see her as Nick?"
"I see her as... as someone I can pour my heart out to. Someone I can say anything to with trust that she won't tell anyone else."
"So... you love her..."
Nick ran his fingers through his hair. "Yeah, I love her, as a friend."
"You've never seen her as anything more? Ever..."
He let out a deep breath as he thought about it. "No, I haven't."
"Tell me something, can you even picture your life without her?"
"No, she's been in my life forever."
"So you can see her in your life in the future."
"Yeah, of course."
Jana smiled, "Of course."
Nick was even more confused by her last comment... but he decided to drop it.

"Kymmi, I don't want to talk about this," Julia said getting annoyed.
"You never want to talk about this. You can't avoid him forever Julia."
"You wanna bet?" Julia said walking away.
"Julia," Kymmi said getting frustrated. She pulled Julia around to face her. "Kevin isn't the same guy anymore. He's grown up Julia. He wants to prove himself to you, but he can only do that if you give him a chance."
"I don't want to give him a chance."
"Why not?" Julia looked away and said nothing. "Oh my god," Kymmi whispered to herself. "You're afraid you'll like him..." Julia was still silent. "So what if you do?"
"I don't know."
"Then give him a chance," Kymmi said softly to Julia.
