» CHAPTER FOUR «

A solid looking guy sat heavily beside her. He was wearing black jeans, and a leather jacket, and looked rather sleazy, and smelt of alcohol. Lacey turned her back on him a little, hoping he would get the hint that she didn't want to talk to him.

"Now come on sweetheart, don't be like that." He put a heavy arm around her.

"Please… get your hands off me." Lacey shoved his hand off of her. She was feeling intimidated, but was trying to remember the self-defence moves she learnt in high school.

"C'mon baby, gimme a chance." This time, he put both arms around her shoulders, holding on tight, and pulling her towards himself, he was terribly drunk.

"Get off me!" she screamed, wriggling to try and get out of his grip.

"Leave her alone" came a growl from behind her, she couldn't see who it was, but hoped that this crazy guy would obey him.

"Make me," the guy said, starting to kiss Lacey's neck.

She turned her head, so he couldn't get to her neck, and screamed in his ear "Get off me!"

Stunned he let go of his grip a little, and Lacey lent forward, still trying to wriggle free. She heard a smack from behind her, and his grip loosened on her completely. She fell hard onto the floor, hurting her wrists, as she stopped herself hitting her head. She turned around to see the guy stand up, and turning angrily towards Howie who he towered over. Howie was just as angry as the guy, his face was red, and he looked ready for anything, and Kevin was behind him, ready to back up.

Krissy and Waverly pulled Lacey from under the crazy guys feet, as he took a swing at Howie, who jumped out of the way.

Howie looked at him. He didn't want to fight, it's against his nature.

The guy then lunged at him, grabbing Howie around the waist, and pulling him onto the floor. The guy was drunk, and throwing wild punches at Howie, and a couple connected with Howie's cheek. Howie threw a few back, getting him in the nose. Howie looked up at Lacey, for a split second, and while his concentration was turned, the guy punched him hard in the stomach, winding him. Kev grabbed the guy on the shoulder, and flipped him off of Howie. He fell hard onto his back Lacey had been lying seconds before.

The guy grabbed the top of the barstool, and tried unsuccessfully several times to haul himself onto his feet.

By the time that he had, the bouncers were beside him, trying to restrain him, and help him towards the door.

All the adrenaline that had built up when the guy had put his arms around Lacey had gone. She was white, and shaking, her eyes wide. "Krissy I want to go home" she whispered.

Krissy and the others were the only one that knew, but Krissy and Lacey seemed to be psychic, so she had been there through it all. She knew Lacey was having flash backs, and she was scared with her.

"Lacey are you alright?" Howie asked, coming up to her, wiping some blood from the cut on his cheek.

"Yeah, thanks," she said shakily. She wanted to go home, crawl into a hole and stay there. Howie looked at Krissy, not sure what to do. He wanted to comfort her, but wasn't sure if he should. He felt responsible for her for some reason.

"Can we go?" Megan said. She had only seen that hallow look in her eyes once before. The group went out to the carpark, and hopped into the van. Lacey sat in the front with the driver, and Krissy between them. She huddled against the door, pulling her legs up to her chest, and hugging herself to her.

Krissy gave the driver directions to Lacey's house. And they stopped there first.

"Thanks for the night everyone," Krissy said as Lacey got out at the door to her house.

Lacey just nodded her head, she didn't say goodbye, and she didn't smile. She was only just there in body.

"Krissy, call me when she's okay," Howie said out the window.

Krissy smiled, "Sure."

The van pulled away, and Krissy took out her key to Lacey's house. She knew there was nothing that she could do for Lacey, just to be there when she 'woke up'.

Lacey climbed the stairs to her bed. She changed into flannel pj's, which were trousers and a long sleeve shirt. She got into her bed, and pulled the covers tight around her. She lay awake, for hours.

Krissy went into the guest room. She always left a change of clothes at Lacey's, just in case something like this happened, and Lacey had a change at Krissy's house.

"What's wrong with Lacey?" Howie asked, concern on his face.

"None of us know, only Krissy," Jackie said.

"It must have been bad, I've never seen her that bad before," Megan remarked

"Thanks, you guys, for being there," Waverly said.

"You all know what's wrong don't you?" AJ said, from the front, beside Brian and Megan

"We ain't gonna tell."

"Was it bad?" Nick asked

"Still ain't telling; it's up to her, not us."

That was the end of the conversation.
