» CHAPTER ONE «

Three weeks later, the Backstreet Boys are getting ready for their first concert. Nick and Kevin are in their make-up chairs getting their make-up and hair done. Nick is complaining.

"I can't stand this make-up!"

"Well, you can't do anything about it, Nick. If you don't put it on, the fans won't be able you see you on stage. You should know that by now."

"I know, I still can't stand it though."

Howie and A.J. are in wardrobe, putting their clothes on, and trying to see which ones will work for the show.

"Howie, does this shirt look all right to you?"

"Yeah, looks fine."

"Thanks." A.J. changes into a new outfit.

Brian is out on stage, going over the steps to one of the songs. "One, two, three, turn. One, two, three, turn. Step, step, jump" he mumbles to himself.

Later on that day, everyone is standing around talking about the show, when a loud noise, sounding like pots and pans falling, startles them.

"What happened?" startled Nick.

"I don't know, but I'm going to check it out" Kevin states. He goes out on stage, and when he sees what's out there, he starts laughing. "Brian! It's your dog again!"

"What!? Lil'Tyke?" Brian runs on stage, with the rest of the group following him. And sure enough, there's a little brown chihuhua running around trying to get away from the stagehands and knocking down equipment.

"We better get him, before someone gets hurt." A.J. states. The group runs after the dog, but since he's so little and fast, he escapes everyone's hands.

"We need to get ready for the concert, we can't chase after a little dog, just leave him. He'll be all right." Kevin proclaims.

"I don't know, what if he gets out, or gets hurt?"

"Brian, he'll be all right. We'll tell everyone to keep an eye on him. We'll make sure nothing happens. Okay?" asks Kevin.

"All right, I guess he'll be fine."

The guys go around telling the stagehands, technicians and anyone else, about Lil'Tyke being loose. They go back to getting ready for the concert. Brian looks around sometimes, and sees Lil'Tyke laying around, sometimes he tries to catch him, but he always misses. The group was about to rehearse, when Brian realizes that he hasn't seen Lil'Tyke in a while. He looks around the equipment, and the dressing rooms. He finds the guys.

"Hey, guys, have you seen Lil'Tyke lately?" The guys shake their heads.

"No, I thought he was backstage a minute ago." Kevin looks around at the others.

They nod. Everyone gets up, and starts looking for the dog. A.J. is looking backstage, when he spots a door open. He goes to it and doesn't see the dog. "Brian! The door is open. He may be outside."

The guys run outside and look around. Brian shouts his name, but Lil'Tyke is nowhere to be found. He starts to worry. The guys take him back inside. Brian starts to bite his nails and Nick tries to calm him down. Kevin goes to the stagehands and asks someone to go out and look for the dog. The stagehands had too much to do.

Brian whispers to himself, "Where is he? I hope he's alright."

Jenny is sitting in the living room watching TV when she looks out the window. She spots a flash of brown hair running around across the street. She notices that it's a dog. "Another dog, I better get it before it gets run over."

She gets a leash and dog treats and goes after the dog. After a little chase, she finally lures him towards her and snaps the leash on to his collar. She takes him back to her house to check the tags for name and number.

"Okay, let's see who you are, shall we?" she whispers, so not to frighten him. "The name is Lil'Tyke. That's a nice name. Do you know who you belong to?"

She turns the tag over and spots the owner's name. She gasps in shock. The dog wriggles out of her arms and starts to sniff the house. "Brian Littrell? No, must be a different Brian." she whispers.

Jenny grabs the dog again, and checks for the number. She finds it, and writes it down. She puts the dog down, and calls the number. Brian's phone rings. A.J.'s mom, Denise answers it. "Hello?" she answers.

"Hello, is this Brian's number? I just wanted him to know that I have his dog."

"Hold on, Brian, it's for you."

Brian confused, takes the phone. He asks Denise, "Who is it?"

Denise smiles. "Someone who has your dog." She goes back to helping the boys. Brian gets on the phone.

"Hello?"

Jenny realizes that IT IS Brian Litrell. She gulps in a breath and speaks. "Hello, Brian? My name is Jenny. I believe I have your dog. I didn't know he was yours until I rescued him from getting run over. He seems to be all right, and he's safe and sound. He's lucky he's not injured."

Brian smiles in relief and replies, "Thank you, I'm glad he's all right. He's lucky to find a nice person like you. What's your address, and I'll pick him up."

Jenny smiles, "My address is 4544 28th Ave (Author’s Note: Not a real address). I'll keep an eye on him for you. Don't worry, he's in good hands."

Brian writes down the address and smiles. "Okay, I'll be there in a little while. Thank you so much for watching him."

"It's no problem. I'll see you in a little while then. Bye."

"Bye." Brian hangs up and goes to find the guys. "Hey guys, someone found Lil'Tyke. He seems to be in good hands. She seems like a nice girl too. I'm going to get him now."

"You're lucky, Brian. That dog is not very easy to handle. Most people would see a dog like that and not even bother" Kevin states.

"I know, I'm just happy that's he's okay." Brian goes to call for a limo, to take him to Jenny's house. The guys follow and talks about the situation.

"Let's go with him. We need to see what this girl is like" A.J. explains. The guys nod in agreement and finds Brian.

"Hey, Brian! Would it be all right if we go with you? We want to see this girl for ourselves and we need something to do, anyways" Nick asks.

Brian nods, "I guess it would be all right. Let's go!"

They all go to find the limo waiting for them, and head to Jenny's house.
