» CHAPTER SIX «

The next day, the guys wake up to find the girls, already up. Jenny is making breakfast. Kelly is watching t.v. in the living room. Nick gets up, as soon as he smells food.

"Food!!" Nick exclaims.

The guys laugh and they all have breakfast. Jenny asks the guys what happened last night. The guys look at each other , and start to explain what happened.

"Is everyone all right? Why didn't you page me?" Howie asks.

"We didn't want to ruin your date, and we were all okay, just a little shook up." Kevin states.

Jenny and Howie nods and they forget about it. They all decide what to do. The guys had to go to the studio to record an album. Jenny goes to work. Kelly is left alone, and she calls her friends and hang out around the house. After her friends go home, she decides to go to the park across the street. She doesn't see Max, hiding behind a tree.  As she sits down on the
picnic table and begins to doodle in her notebook, Max comes up from behind and covers her mouth to keep her from screaming. He pulls her behind the tree and a big van pulls up. Max drags her to the van and throws her inside. They knock her out and tie her up. When Kelly wakes up she is blindfolded and is tied to a chair. Max walks up to her and takes off her blindfold. She sees that she's in a warehouse of some sort. It's dark and only one light is shining over her.

"Glad you're awake." Max says, walking from behind her.

"Where am I?" Kelly asks, nervously.

"Like I would tell you." Max taunts.

He walks in front of her and Kelly could see the rest of the gang not too far behind him. Max snaps his fingers and 2 guys walk out from the gang and untie her. Before Kelly could escape, they grab her arms and hold her tight. They walk her over to Max.

"Where are the Backstreet Boys having their next concert?" Max asks, "My gang and I are interested in attending and possibly help them...bring the house down." Max says as he pulls out a switch blade.

He snaps the blade out and looks at it as it shines in the light. Kelly shudders as she sees the blade.

"So? Are you going to tell me?" Max looks up at her.

Kelly growls and kicks him on the knee. Max yells in pain and punches Kelly hard on her cheek bone. Kelly waits till the pain eases away, and she glares at him.

"You might want to consider playing nice. Or else, the consequences might be fatal." He snarls as he shows her the knife.

"Now, are you going to tell me?" He asks nicely.

"no" Kelly replies coldly.

Max chuckles to himself. "We'll have to adjust that."

Kelly looks up at him. Max smiles and then kicks her hard in her stomach. Kelly gasps in pain. The two guys drop her and she falls to the ground, holding her stomach. She starts to get up as he kicks her again. She falls and winces. Kelly stands up again and looks at him in the eye. Max punches her hard and she whips her head to the side by the blow. She has a cut on her eyebrow. Max grins evilly and hits her again. She falls to the ground again. She slowly gets up and sits on the chair. Max walks up to her and kneels down to her level. Blood trickles down her chin from her lip.

"How about now? Feel like talking."

Kelly snarls and looks at him. Painfully standing up, she says quietly, "I don't think so."

Max leans in to hear. "What?"

Kelly suddenly spits blood at him. When he wipes it off, she quickly turns around and grabs the chair. She hits him, hard, on the head. He shouts in pain. The gang grabs her. Max gets up with a snarl on his face, and slaps her hard.

"Never do that again!" Max yells.

He looks at his gang members and smiles.

"Fine. If that's how you want to play."

Max takes out his knife. Kelly gasps. He swings it in the air and cuts her arm. She screams in pain. He snaps his fingers and she is dropped. He steps back and starts to walk away.

"Boys, I have other business. Take care of her. But, I want her alive."

He snaps his fingers and walks out the door. The gang walks to her and starts to beat her up. Followed with punches, kicks, and picking her up and slamming her to the ground. When they are done, she is unconscious. The gang walks away to a wall and sits down, waiting for Max.

Jenny gets home from work.

"Kelly? You home?" Jenny calls.

When no reply is heard, she looks around for some sort of note. When none is found, she starts to get a little worried.

"Probably at a friend's house." She tells herself.

Jenny starts to make dinner. The boys come over.

"hmm, That smells good, Jenny." Howie says as he enters the kitchen. "What are you making?"

"Chicken A la King" Jenny replies.

Howie smiles. "I'm sure it will be wonderful."

"Hey, Where's Kelly?" Brian asks.

"I don't know, She hasn't left a note and has been gone every since I got home. I'm getting worried." Jenny tells him.

All of a sudden, a knock is at the door.

"I'll answer it." Kevin says as he walks to the door.

When he opens it, Max is standing there. Kevin walks outside, leaving the door open.

"What are you doing here?" Kevin snaps.

"Missing somebody?" Max asks, slyly.

Kevin gets angry. He picks him up by the shirt and slams him against the wall.

"Where is she?!!" Kevin shouts.

Everyone comes out by the commotion.

"Kevin! Don't lose your cool! He might tell us where she is." Nick says as he walks up to Kevin.

Max smiles. "He's right, you know, I do know where she is. And my boys will kill her unless I tell them not to. And If I don't tell them to keep her alive in the next 15 minutes, it's bye-bye birdie." Max snickers.

Kevin puts him down.

"What do you want?" Kevin asks, everyone surrounds Max to hear what he has to say.

"All I want, is for the Backstreet scum to retire." Max says.

"Why?" Kevin asks, suspiciously.

"I have my reasons. Will you do it?" Max asks.

"No," Nick says coming from behind Max.

"Nick!" Howie yells.

"It's ok, Howie, we got to keep up our business no matter what. Even if it means losing someone special." Nick says.

Max nods and starts to walk away. "Ok then, Well, If you'll excuse me, I have to see if another job is being done." Max smiles and walks away.

He gets into his van and drives off. The boys look at Nick angrily and Jenny pounds on Nick and then runs inside crying.

"Why did you do that Nick?!" Howie yells.

"That's just not right, man." A.J. says.

Nick smiles.

"Guys! Calm down! You know that video game I always play? The detective one? We just follow Max to where he is going and save Kelly!"

Kevin glares at Nick.  "It's not a game, Nick! You just killed Kelly!"

He goes inside to call the police.  Howie follows to comfort Jenny.  Brian and AJ look at each other.

"Let's just go with it. It may work." Brian says.

Brian and AJ follow Nick to Brian's car and follows Max. They follow Max closely to the warehouse and stop a block away. When they get to the warehouse, they watch as he enters the building. They look around for a place to see what's going on. Nick sees a window.

"Look guys, a window. I'm going to see what's going on."

He climbs up and hears what's happening.

"Well boys, did you dump her?" Max asks his members.

"Yeah boss, in the basketball court area." one of the guys say.

Nick smiles and gets down. He runs back to the guys and tells them what he heard. They go to the court and scatter around, looking for her. AJ and Nick look by the lake that's by the court and Brian looks in the court.

At Jenny's house, Kevin is on the phone, while Howie and Jenny are sitting on the couch.

"Howie, I hope they find her." Jenny tells him, starting to cry again.

Howie holds her. As AJ and Nick cross the bridge, AJ sees something in a crack, on the railing. He pulls it out and it's Kelly's necklace, the one Nick gave her!

"Nick! Get over here!"

Nick runs over to A.J. "What is it?"

Nick sees the necklace and they look at each other. Then AJ gets on the bridge ledge and jumps in. Nick puts down the necklace and jumps in as well. They search around, until A.J. comes up to the top of the water to get air. He's holding Kelly.

"Nick! I found her!" AJ shouts.

Nick comes up and they take her to the land.  They set her down, Nick checks for pulse and breathing, and finds that she has both.  "She's alive!"

He shakes her and a few seconds later, she wakes up and starts coughing.

"That was fast." Kelly smiles, looking at Nick.

"I'll go get the car." Nick says as he hurries to where Brian is.

Brian calls for an ambulance. Kelly tries to sit up, but winces in pain.

"Relax Kelly, help is coming." AJ tells her.

The ambulance comes, and takes her to the hospital. Jenny is called and is now in the waiting room with all of the guys.

"I can't believe what that gang did to Kelly." Kevin says shaking his head.

"At least, she's okay now. We can all relax." A.J. says coming back from a candy machine.

They never got to eat the dinner that Jenny was making. The doctor came out. They all stand up to hear what he has to say.

"Kelly has multiple fractures, plus some wounds. We would like to keep her here for a few days for observation."  The doctor tells them. Everyone nods.

The guys go home and Jenny stays with Kelly.  A day goes by, and Kelly goes home too. She gets a lot of pampering.  Kevin and Nick stay with Kelly, while the others go grocery shopping.

"Are you ok, Kelly?" Nick asks for the 50th time.

"I'm fine, Nick! Man! I think I liked it better with the gang." Kelly jokes.

"We just want you to be ok." Kevin tells her.

A knock is heard at the door.

"I'll answer it." Kevin says.

When he opens it, a cop is there, "May I help you?"

"Hello, I'm here in regards of a beating by a gang. Is the girl here?"

Kevin nods, "Oh yes, come on in." and lets the man in. Kelly sees the cop and starts to sit up on the couch. The cop holds his hand up and smiles.

"It's all right, don't get up. I'm just here to tell you that the gang was caught. You should have no more worries about them."

Kelly smiles, and Nick and Kevin sigh in relief as they hug her. The cop smiles, and continues.

"However, however, we do need you to point them out, in a line-up."

Kelly tenses up a little, "Will the gang be put in jail, for a long time?" she asks.

The cop nods, "But, they'll probably be out on probation in a couple of years." Kevin and Nick looks at each other, and they sit down.

"You can do it, Kelly. Us guys and Jenny will be there to support you. You need to get these guys, before they get someone else too." Nick says.

Kelly nods, "When's the line-up?"

"It's tomorrow. As soon as you point them out, they'll be arrested."

"Yeah, and in a couple of years, the guys will be out in no time, on probation. Now, how can we handle that?" Kelly states, looking at all of the guys in the room.

Kevin shakes his head. He looks at Nick and they sigh. Kelly speaks up.

"Can I call you and give you my answer later? I want to think about this, and talk it over with my sister, and the other guys."

The cop nods, and writes his number down for Kelly to call. Kevin walks him out the door. Nick goes to the kitchen, to get some food for Kelly. Kelly looks at the number and sighs. She is still thinking about it, when the other guys and Jenny come back home. Kevin is helping Howie and Jenny put groceries away, when he tells them what happened.

"A cop came by, while you were gone. The gang is caught." Kevin states.

Jenny smiles, "That's great!"

Kevin shakes his head, "No, it's not so great. Kelly has to point them out in a line-up."

"So? Isn't that a good thing? We'll support her all the way." Howie asks.

Kevin sighs, "If they get jail time, they will only be out in a couple of years, on probation."

Jenny looks at Kevin.

"Kelly is a little scared, that they will go after her again. And frankly, so are Nick and I. We figured that she talk with the rest of us, and we can all figure out what to do."

Jenny nods, and as soon as they finish putting groceries away. They all go to the living room, and sit down.  Nick already told A.J. about what happened, and they all sit down around the room, to discuss about the line-up. Kelly starts.

"I just don't know, if I would want to be in the same building with them, let alone, the same room. And the fact that they will be out in a couple of years, it just makes the situation much harder, you know?" Kelly states.

Kevin continues, "Well, as you know, Kelly. We will all support you, one hundred percent. And, as far as the gang goes, we'll just have to see how long they will be in jail. And you will still need to point them out."

The group all nods in agreement. Kelly looks around the room, and sighs. She nods and motions for A.J. to give her the phone. She dials the number the cop gave her, and tells him her decision.

"Hello, this is Kelly. You came to my house. I'll do the lineup, okay? Great. Bye." she hangs up the phone and looks around the room.

She nods. "It's all set. I will point them out tomorrow at 2:00 in the afternoon. They'll be in jail overnight, right now."

They all nod and Jenny hugs Kelly. Jenny decides not to cook that night, so they all go to McDonald's for dinner. Kelly relaxes a little bit.

"Everything will be all right, Kelly. We'll help you, in any way we can, okay?" A.J. states, hugging her.

Kelly nods. After dinner, they all go back to Jenny's house. The guys decide to stay for a while. They go to the kitchen, for a secret meeting. Jenny and Kelly are sitting in the living room. Jenny's reading a book, while Kelly is watching t.v.

"We need to do something for these girls. I don't know about you guys, but I just can't leave them here, and go on tour. I would worry too much about them." Kevin states, looking around at the group.

They all nod in agreement. "I know, but what can we do? The tour starts in a week. And we only have a couple days left on our break." Nick says. They all are very silent, thinking about what to do. Howie gets an idea.

Howie smiles and tells the guys, "I think I have an idea. How about we take the girls with us. They can be part of our tour group. We can find jobs for them, and Kelly can take tutoring too."

"Great!" Nick says, smiling. "I think we were all thinking the same thing."

The guys nod in agreement. They all go to the girls to tell them their idea. They all stand around the room, and the girls look up at them, waiting for someone to speak up.

"Hey Jenny, Kelly, we have something to ask you." Brian says, smiling at the girls.

Jenny puts her book down and Kelly shuts off the t.v.  The guys all spread out in front of the girls, and they sit down, and look at each other. Kevin sighs and speaks up.

"We talked it over, and we decided, that since you girls are practically a part of our family now, we would like to make it official." Kevin says, smiling.

"We would love it, if you and Kelly come with us, on the tour. And if it's all right with you, you can stay with us, and be a part of our group." Howie intervenes in the conversation. The guys start talking over each other.

Jenny waves her hands and shouts, "Hey, Hey, Whoa! We need to talk it over, for a minute."

Jenny looks at Kelly, and Kelly nods.

"We'll be right back." Grabbing Kelly and going in the kitchen.

"Jenny, we can be with the group now! How's that? We can tour with them, and hang out with them, and do all sorts of stuff."

"I must admit, it does sound like a nice thing for them to do. But Kelly, we have a life here. Your school, my job, our friends and neighbors. We've never been out of town for more than a couple of months. And that was vacation. The guys won't be in school with you, you know.  They'll be rehearsing, and recording, and taking photo shoots.  We would just be in the way."

"But what if they find a job for you, you can do many things besides taking care of babies.  And I wouldn't care if I'm the only one in school. Nick had tutors when he was in junior high. I can do the same thing. Pleeeeease, Jenny? I want to do this."

Jenny sighs and nods. "Okay, we can go.... but only if there is tutoring for you, and we are not in the way. One time....we get in the way, then we're done. Deal?"

Kelly smiles and jumps from her seat, "Yes!! Deal!" she runs back in the living room, to tell the guys.

Jenny smiles and follows. As soon as she walks in the room, Kelly told them the deal, and the guys smile. Howie walks over to Jenny and gives her a huge hug and kisses her lightly.

The other guys and Kelly smile..."oooooh!"

They smile and turn back to the group. The girls are going on tour with the Backstreet Boys!!

The next day, Jenny and Kelly are getting ready to go to the police station. The guys decide to stay with the girls for the night. They all slept in the living room. After the line-up, they go back to the hotel. They still had some recording to do, and also tell their managers about the girls.

"Are you about ready? We need to get to the station, before they let those creeps out." Jenny states.

Kelly nods nervously. On the way there, Kelly trembles violently. AJ holds her gently.

When they get inside, the police show her to the room. Kelly stands in the back of the room shivering.

" I don't want to do this." Kelly whimpers quietly.

Kevin hears her and walks over to her. He wraps her arms around her.

"ok, Let's bring them out." The officer says in the microphone.

A line of about 7 guys comes out. They stand against the wall. Kelly looks over them when her eyes come across Max, with a scar over his face where she slammed the chair over him. Kelly sighs nervously.

"Do any of them look familiar?" The officer asks.

"I don't know, They all look too ugly." Kelly says with a forced giggle. "Number 4, He was the leader." she says pointing to Max.

"Lock number 4 up." The officer says into the microphone.

A door opens and the line starts to move out. Max looks at Kelly and winks. An officer grabs him and takes him out of the room. Kelly nervously looks at everyone.

The officer smiles, "You don't have to worry about him anymore. "

Kelly nods, "Let's go home." She says.

Everyone agrees. The guys and girls go back to their car, and they head back to Jenny's house. After they dropped the girls off, the guys head back to the hotel. They still had some rehearsing and recording to do, and the girls had to get their things all ready and set, for the tour with the guys.
