Chapter Four
"So.. you.. umm.. you like this place so far?" I asked Nick, giving AJ a quick evil look. She'd taken my hat and wouldn't give it back, again. She was sitting in the recliner, Alex was standing next to her, and I was sitting next to Nick on the couch
"I dunno.. I haven't really seen much yet." He replied, looking at the Coca-Cola we'd offered him.
AJ smiled, and then coughed while saying, "Go out!" My glare automatically shot to her, and she gave me an innocent smile. Alex laughed and went into the kitchen to get a Coke.
"There's really nothing to see," I said. "Just a McDonalds, a mall, and a couple of stores."
"Oh.. is there a movies place?" He asked.
"Yup!" AJ smiled. Alex came back into the living room and sat on the arm of the recliner AJ was sitting in.
The phone rang and I picked it up, "Hello?" It was my stepbrother, Howie. "Whaddya want?" I asked.
"Did I leave my jacket over there?" He asked.
"Wait, lemme check." I replied, looking at my nails. I looked around the room and saw his jacket hanging over the back of the other recliner. "What's it to yah?" I grinned. I waited a second, while he threatened to beat me up when he came over. "Yeah yeah it's here." I laughed. Howie wouldn't really beat me up anyway. I hung up the phone and sat there for a minute. "That was my stepbrother." I told Nick.
"Oh, okay."
"When's he comin over?" Alex asked.
"Tonight," I replied. "But he's got a date with Lucky."
"Again??" Alex said.
"That's okay," AJ smiled at him
Nick looked at his watch, "I'd better go help unpack." He said getting up.
"Well, what's your phone number? Sarah can show you around tonight." AJ said. Nick gave us his phone number and then left to help unpack.
