[ L A Y O U T ]

During my mini vacation, I've been teaching myself web design. Obviously I'm a complete novice BUT I thought I would include a little section on the 'other' layouts This Book of Burdon had before I FINALLY made my choice.

This one was the first page I made with my Adobe PhotoShop. I made it on October 10th 2000.

I didn't like this one because I didn't like where I had put the navigation bar. It threw the entire page off balance when I added text.

I didn't like this one once the text was added because it was too complicated. I also wanted a lighter page.

This one was my favorite before I decided to go the simple route. Besides, I had used The official page to learn some techniques. It wasn't chosen because I felt it was a rip-off and I KNEW I had ideas of my own.

This was the main page. When you drew your mouse over the text, the picture changed...sound familiar? Well, at least I know how to do that now.

this was the rest.

So I ended up with my mock corkboard (or pressed wood) look because I wanted it to be simpler, light and more me.

So here it is.

I used Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Image Ready and Macromedia Dreamweaver for the latest.

Those of you who have been following This Book of Burdon from day one has seen several changes. My first page, I can't even remember what that looked like because I immediately began to design a different one, which follows.

original layout, April 1999
So, this is the first real layout I made in April 1999 when I first added it to the search engines. I used Adobe Photo Deluxe, Adobe PageMill and Corel Draw.

second layout, September 2000

I was sick of the old one so I made this one in September 2000 with a graphics program that came with my new computer. I used Adobe PageMill, Adobe Photo Deluxe and PictureIt! by microsoft.

Once it was on the web, I hated it.

Thats why the new layout in such a short period of time.

I'm happy that I have something like This Book of Burdon because It gives me an excuse to learn more.
