Chapter Twelve: Sunset
"Fine Macavity. It's a deal," Munkustrap said after thinking a moment.
"You have two days to complete the job. I'll give your friends back for now, but in two days if bats still attack my lair, I swear I will kill you and them," Mac hissed.
"Great," Bomba replied sarcastically. Mac glared at her.
"Then we can leave," Exi said, obviously relieved.
"Yes," Mac agreed. He called two of his remaining rats, and told them to get his prisoners. They came back a few moments later with Sillabub, Demeter and Alonzo, who all looked confused.
"You are free to go unless you haven't rid London of the bats in two days," Mac explained. "Now go!"
The six Jellicles ran as fast as they could out of the Hidden Paw's lair. None of them wanted to stay there.
"Now we only have one problem," Silla said. "Killing the bats."
"I have an idea that might work, but I need to see their roost again to be sure," Lonzo remarked, looking suddenly inspired by something.
"Let me guess, you saw it on a movie," Munk sneered.
"Yes, actually, I did."
"I figured."
"If you need to see it again, come on!" Exi urged, running off toward the roost. She suddenly stopped. "No, that's a bad idea right now."
"Why?" Dem asked.
"Because the sun is setting." Exi explained. "The bats will awaken soon."
