19981007: HP Printing Problems from DOS Apps (like CA$CH)
October/1998
|
This note is from Wilma W: As printer technology has advanced, we have had printing problems from the DOS based CA$CH program in the offices, especially with the HP LaserJet 6P. The problem is only with the LPT port where the printer is physically connected. There is no problem printing from Ca$ch with this printer through a network connection. We have used the HP LaserJet 5 driver and it has worked. On one occasion we could not get Ca$ch to print even using the LaserJet 5 driver. We continued to get a conflict on LPT1 between Ca$ch and Windows. We found that it was necessary to do a custom install of the HP LaserJet 6P driver. After you begin the installation, select Custom Install, accept the port and continue. You will now have two options: the 6 MP or 6P select the LaserJet 6P and Continue... At the next screen, remove the checkbox under HP LaserJet toolbox. Click on the Printer Drivers options and remove the check mark for Enhanced Printer Driver. Select OK and Continue. Following those steps, CA$CH printed to the local printer with no problem. |
